VOMO

Find and read your VOMO meeting notes, summaries, and original transcripts. OAuth sign-in with read-only access.

Hosted MCP Server

npx add-mcp 'https://mcp.vomo.ai/mcp'

Installs into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and more

Documentation

Install the VOMO CLI once. Then Claude Code, Codex, or any MCP client can search your library and pull up the notes that matter — across everything you have recorded, or inside a single folder.

Want to use your notes directly in ChatGPT? Connect the VOMO plugin — no terminal needed.

$ npm install -g @vomoai/cli$ vomo auth login$ vomo notes list --limit 5

If the last command prints a list of your notes, you are connected.

[00:01] Before you start

Is this for you?

You want a terminal or agent workflow

For scripts, Claude Code, Codex, or a compatible MCP client, use the CLI instructions on this page. You need a VOMO account, Node.js 18 or later, and a terminal. The CLI works on macOS, Linux, and Windows. Start with the three commands above.

Continue with CLI / MCP

You want your notes in ChatGPT

Connect the VOMO plugin to find relevant notes already saved in your VOMO account and read their Smart Notes and full transcripts. Then ask ChatGPT to summarize a meeting, analyze an interview, or draft a follow-up email.

No CLI, Node.js, or terminal commands needed. Connect your VOMO account in ChatGPT and approve read-only access there, separately from CLI sign-in.

[00:02] Connect your agent with the CLI

Three CLI paths. Pick one.

The three developer paths below read the same notes through the CLI and share its install and sign-in steps. Choose how your agent talks to it. The ChatGPT plugin above connects separately.

Claude Code and Codex

One command

Installs the VOMO skill globally for both agents, so they know when and how to reach your notes without being told each time.

$ vomo skills install

It runs through npx, so Node needs to be on your PATH. For any other skills-compatible agent:

$ npx skills add Vomo-ai/vomo-skill

Any MCP client

Claude Desktop, Cursor, and friends

Add the VOMO MCP server to your client's config. It exposes four tools: notes_list, notes_get, search, and folders_list.

{  "mcpServers": {    "vomo": {      "command": "vomo",      "args": ["mcp", "serve"]    }  }}

This config needs the global install — npx alone will not satisfy "command": "vomo".

Just the terminal

Scripts and pipelines

Every read command takes --json, and update notices go to stderr, so piping stays clean.

$ vomo search "pricing objection" --transcript$ vomo notes get 10001 --transcript$ vomo notes list --since 7d --json

The full flag reference lives with the tool: @vomoai/cli on npm and the skill repo.

[00:03] The whole library

Can I ask across everything I have recorded?

Yes — and it is worth knowing how, because it shapes what you should ask. Your agent searches your library first, then opens the notes that matched. It does not pull every note into context, so ask the way you would ask a colleague who knows where things are.

Ask it like this

  • “What did we decide about pricing in any call this quarter?”
  • “Summarize my meetings from last week.”
  • “Find every note where someone raised the migration risk.”
  • “What did Alice say in our call?”

What happens underneath

The agent runs a search across your Smart Notes — or transcript bodies, when the answer is in what was actually said — narrows to the notes that match, then reads those in full. You see the note titles it used, so you can check its work.

[00:04] One folder

Can I ask about just one folder?

Yes. List your folders, then name one in your prompt — the agent scopes its search to that folder.

$ vomo folders list$ vomo notes list --folder "Sales" --since 30d

Then ask: “List recent recordings in the Sales folder” or “What objections came up in Sales calls this month?” Folder filtering cannot be combined with the favorites filter.

[00:05] Honest limits

What the CLI can't do

  • Your notes only. There is no team, shared, or workspace library. It reads the account you signed in with.
  • Read-only. It cannot create, edit, move, or delete a note. Nothing you ask can change your library.
  • No bulk export. There is no pagination cursor today, so listing is dependable up to about 50 notes at a time. Narrow by folder or by date instead of asking for everything at once.
  • Long transcripts are long. Roughly a thousand characters per minute of audio, so a 40-minute meeting is a big read. Searching first is usually faster than asking for a full transcript.
  • Speakers are numbered, not named. Transcripts label speakers as 0, 1, 2 — the agent can often infer who is who from context, but it is inferring.

[00:06] Privacy

What your CLI sign-in allows

Signing in grants read-only access to your notes and nothing else. Your refresh token is stored in your operating system's keychain when one is available, otherwise in a file inside the CLI's own directory that only your user account can read (vomo auth status --json shows which), and vomo auth logout signs you out on that machine.

The skill ships no service credentials and does not read your local auth files. It works only through the official CLI.

[00:07] Troubleshooting

If something didn't work

command not found: vomo

npm installed it somewhere that is not on your PATH. Check where global packages go, then make sure that directory's bin is on your PATH.

$ npm prefix -g

The agent can't see my notes

Try a real read. If it fails with invalid refresh token (401), your sign-in has expired even though vomo auth status may still say Logged in. Run vomo auth login again, then restart your MCP client.

$ vomo notes list --limit 1

MCP tools fail but are listed

The server lists its tools even when signed out — only the calls fail. Sign in, then restart your MCP client so it reconnects.

Questions people actually ask

Can I ask questions across my entire note library?

Yes. Your agent searches your whole library and then reads the notes that match, the same way you would. It does not load every note at once — it searches first, then opens what is relevant.

Can I ask about just one folder?

Yes. Run vomo folders list to see your folders, then name the folder in your prompt. The agent filters to that folder.

Can it change or delete my notes?

No. The CLI signs in with read-only access, so it can list, read, and search your notes but cannot create, edit, move, or delete anything.

Do I need to be a developer?

For the CLI, you need a terminal and Node.js 18 or later. To use your saved VOMO notes directly in ChatGPT, connect the VOMO plugin instead — no CLI installation or terminal commands required. The plugin finds and reads your notes; ChatGPT can then summarize, analyze, or draft from that content. ChatGPT connection and read-only authorization are separate from CLI sign-in.

Which AI agents work with this?

Claude Code and Codex are set up with a single command. Any MCP-compatible client — such as Claude Desktop or Cursor — can connect to the same data by running the VOMO MCP server. Anything that can run a shell command can use the CLI directly.

Does this work with my team's notes?

No. The CLI reads the notes on your own account only. There is no shared, team, or workspace library access.

Record it once. Ask about it forever.

You need a VOMO account and some recordings before the CLI has anything to read.

Verified against @vomoai/cli 1.0.1. If vomo upgrade --check reports something newer, some of this may have moved.
