What it does

The Proxmint MCP server lets an AI assistant work with your account: read a page the way a visitor in another country sees it, pull proxy lines for a country or city, check what is left before a scraping run, or find out why a line stopped working. It runs on our side at https://proxmint.com/api/mcp, so there is nothing to install.

ToolReturnsKey

Connect

Create an API key under Settings in the dashboard (it is the same read-only key the customer API uses), then add the server to your client. Without a key only get_pricing works.

claude mcp add --transport http proxmint https://proxmint.com/api/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer pmk_YOUR_KEY"
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "proxmint": {
      "url": "https://proxmint.com/api/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer pmk_YOUR_KEY" }
    }
  }
}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "proxmint": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://proxmint.com/api/mcp", "--header", "Authorization:${AUTH}"],
      "env": { "AUTH": "Bearer pmk_YOUR_KEY" }
    }
  }
}

Any other client that speaks Streamable HTTP works the same way: the URL above, and the key in an Authorization: Bearer header.

What it can't do

Every tool only reads. The server cannot buy or top up, change your targeting, rotate your password or touch billing. Two tools send traffic, both through your own product and on its bandwidth: check_connection makes one request of a few kilobytes, the same check the dashboard runs, and fetch_url loads the page you ask for.

fetch_url reads at most 1 MB of a page and returns at most 50,000 characters of it. It follows up to 5 redirects, leaves binary files such as images unread, and does not run JavaScript. It will not fetch private or local addresses, or ports the gateway does not forward to (see ports). Each call leaves through a new exit, so sticky sessions do not apply; use generate_proxies for those.

generate_proxies puts your proxy password into the conversation, because a working line needs it. get_account leaves it out. A key reads as much as your proxy password does, so keep it out of shared configs and revoke it in Settings if it leaks.

The server keeps nothing: it does not log tool arguments, results or keys. Like the rest of proxmint.com, it is served through Cloudflare.

Limits

Tools that read your account share the customer API's limit of 60 requests a minute per IP. Past it, a tool answers with an error instead of data; wait a minute and ask again. Bandwidth figures refresh from the network every 15 minutes.
