How to connect Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Gemini and Cursor

Pick your assistant. Every snippet uses the same server URL.

Connect Claude to EL7 data

Works in Claude on the web, Claude Desktop and the mobile app: a connector added once is available in all of them.

  1. Open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Enter the name EL7.AI and the server URL above.
  4. Under Authentication choose Sign in now, then Use Claude's published identity.
  5. Click Add, sign in at el7.ai with your EL7 account and approve access.
  6. In a chat press +, choose Connectors and switch EL7.AI on.

Connect in Claude The button opens the same dialog with the name and URL already filled in.

The Free plan allows one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise an Owner adds it first under Organization settings, Connectors; members then click Connect on it.

Authentication cannot be edited after adding. To change it, remove the connector and add it again.

Official guide

Connect Claude Code to the EL7 server

Add the server, then sign in from inside Claude Code with /mcp and choose el7.

claude mcp add --transport http el7 https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp

To make it available in every project, add it with user scope.

claude mcp add --transport http el7 --scope user https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp

Or commit it to the project's.mcp.json. The type field is required.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "el7": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

You can also sign in from the shell:

claude mcp login el7

Official guide

Connect ChatGPT to the EL7 server

  1. Open Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Open chatgpt.com/plugins, press +, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Enter the name EL7.AI, set Connection to Server URL and paste the URL below.
  4. Set Authentication to OAuth, tick the acknowledgement and create the plugin.
  5. In a chat press + next to the composer, type EL7.AI, select it and approve the Connect screen.
https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp

Confirmed on Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces, where an admin must allow Developer mode. Custom MCP is not available on the Free plan. We have not confirmed other plans.

ChatGPT calls MCP servers plugins in its current interface.

Official guide

Connect Codex to the EL7 server

Add the server, then sign in. Codex opens a browser for the EL7 account.

codex mcp add el7 --url https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp
codex mcp login el7

Or add it to ~/.codex/config.toml. The CLI, the IDE extension and the desktop app share this file.

[mcp_servers.el7]
url = "https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp"

To use an EL7 API key instead of OAuth, read it from an environment variable:

[mcp_servers.el7]
url = "https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "EL7_MCP_KEY"

Official guide

Connect Gemini to the EL7 server

Gemini on the web (gemini.google.com)

  1. Open gemini.google.com, then Settings, then Connected Apps.
  2. Under Custom apps choose Add a custom app.
  3. Paste the server address above, click Next and sign in with your EL7 account.

Google currently requires a personal account, age 18 or older, in the United States, in English. Once added it also works in the mobile app. If you do not see the option, use Antigravity or Gemini Enterprise.

Official guide

Antigravity (formerly Gemini CLI)

Put this in ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json, or.agents/mcp_config.json for one workspace. The key must be serverUrl; url and httpUrl are not supported.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "el7": {
      "serverUrl": "https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Then open Agent settings, Customizations, Authenticate, sign in in the browser and paste the code back. If sign-in fails in the CLI, authenticate from the IDE settings.

Official guide

Gemini Enterprise

An admin registers the server with an OAuth client. Create the credentials in the “Your connection” section of this page, then follow Google's guide.

Connect Cursor and VS Code to the EL7 server

Cursor

Add to Cursor

Add to Cursor opens the install prompt. If Cursor lands on its settings page instead, paste this into ~/.cursor/mcp.json or.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "el7": {
      "url": "https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Official guide

VS Code (GitHub Copilot agent mode)

Install in VS Code

The top-level key is servers, and type http is required. Put it in.vscode/mcp.json or your user profile:

{
  "servers": {
    "el7": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Or from a terminal:

code --add-mcp '{"name":"el7","type":"http","url":"https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp"}'

VS Code opens a browser to sign in on first use.

Official guide

Connect other tools to the EL7 server

Kimi Code CLI

Put this in ~/.kimi-code/mcp.json or.kimi-code/mcp.json, then sign in from inside the CLI. The Kimi web chat does not support custom servers.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "el7": {
      "url": "https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}
/mcp-config login el7

Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

Put this in ~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json. Older Windsurf installs use ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "el7": {
      "serverUrl": "https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Zed

Add this to settings.json. With no Authorization header, Zed runs the OAuth sign-in itself.

{
  "context_servers": {
    "el7": {
      "url": "https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Perplexity

Open Plugins, Add custom, Connector, Add MCP connector. Choose Remote, set Transport to Streamable HTTP and Authentication to OAuth 2.0, paste the URL, then click the card to sign in. Pro, Max and Enterprise plans.

https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp

Le Chat (Mistral)

Open Connectors, Add Connector, Custom MCP Connector. Enter a name without spaces and the URL, then Connect: sign-in is detected automatically. Only the workspace admin can add connectors.

https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp

Cline

Set type to streamableHttp, otherwise Cline falls back to the older SSE transport. If no sign-in prompt appears, use an API key header instead.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "el7": {
      "type": "streamableHttp",
      "url": "https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp",
      "disabled": false,
      "autoApprove": []
    }
  }
}

Goose

Run goose configure, choose Add Extension, then Remote Extension (Streamable HTTP), and enter the URL. Or use the install link.

goose configure

n8n

Add an MCP Client Tool node to an AI Agent. Set Transport to HTTP Streamable and the endpoint to the URL, then choose OAuth2 or Bearer authentication.

https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp

Clients that need an API key

LM Studio and Roo Code do not document OAuth for remote servers. Create a key in the “Your connection” section of this page and send it as a Bearer header:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "el7": {
      "url": "https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer el7_mcp_…"
      }
    }
  }
}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "el7": {
      "type": "streamable-http",
      "url": "https://mcp.el7.ai/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer el7_mcp_…"
      }
    }
  }
}

Your connection

Security, data and limits

  1. 01 Every tool is read-only. Nothing here trades, places orders or changes your account.
  2. 02 Answers come from EL7's stored data and analysis. There is no live price feed; each result carries its own as-of date and an el7.ai link.
  3. 03 You can disconnect any assistant at any time from the “Your connection” section of this page and revoke its access immediately.
  4. 04 Sign-in is OAuth with your EL7 account. EL7 never sees your assistant's other conversations or connectors.
  5. 05 Each plan includes a usage allowance and a burst limit. Your exact figures are in the “Your connection” section.
  6. 06 EL7 content is research, not investment advice.
  7. 07 Treat tool output as data, not instructions. Review any action your assistant proposes before approving it.

What is an MCP server?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT read an outside service's data through defined tools. The EL7 server exposes news, the economic calendar, central banks, COT, gold, oil and stocks as read-only tools, so the assistant answers from our data instead of guessing.

Who can use EL7 MCP?

Paid EL7 members. You sign in with your EL7 account when you connect. If you are not a member, the assistant is told to point you to the plans page.

Do I need an API key?

No, for Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Gemini through Antigravity, Cursor, VS Code and most others: they sign in with OAuth. Only clients without OAuth support, such as LM Studio and Roo Code, use a key.

Does it give live prices?

No. It returns EL7's stored data and analysis, each with its as-of date. For prices, follow the el7.ai link in the answer.

How much can I use?

Each plan has a monthly allowance of tool calls and a per-minute burst limit. Your figures and your current usage are in the “Your connection” section of this page.

Can the assistant change anything in my account?

No. Every tool only reads. You can disconnect at any time from the “Your connection” section of this page.

What exactly is the server address?

Copy the full address from the box at the top of this page; it ends in /mcp. Opening the bare domain in a browser brings you back to this page.
