Your chat,now a mind map.
Tell ChatGPT or Claude what you're thinking. Atlas Red turns it into a real mind map you can edit, rearrange and export.
Free has no end date — upgrade only if you outgrow 10 maps. In the ChatGPT plugin directory · works with Claude too.
Say it. "Make a mind map from this chat." — in ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI that speaks MCP.
Get a real map. Topics you can drag, branches you can restructure, an export that works — so what you figured out in chat stays organised and ready to use.
Free, never metered. Your assistant does the thinking, so Atlas Red has nothing to charge for.
Questions people ask
How do I connect it?
Sign-in uses your Atlas Red account, and Free is enough. The server is hosted — nothing to install or run — at https://app.atlas-red.com/mcp, a standard remote endpoint (Streamable HTTP, OAuth) you authorise once.
- ChatGPT Open Atlas Red in the plugin directory, choose Install plugin, sign in — then mention @Atlas Red in any chat (how that works).
- Claude Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the URL above, authorise once. Web, desktop and mobile.
- Claude Code claude mcp add --transport http atlas-red https://app.atlas-red.com/mcp
- Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code Add a remote MCP server with the URL above; sign in when prompted.
- Anything else Any client that speaks Streamable HTTP with OAuth connects the same way.
The server's public home — registry manifest, docs, issue tracker — is atlas-red/mcp on GitHub. Already signed in? The same steps, with screenshots and an onboarding checklist, are under Help → MCP in the app.
What can I ask it to do?
Turn my launch notes into a mind map called "Q4 launch".
Read my "Research" map and add a branch for everything we haven't validated.
Restructure this map so the three workstreams are top-level branches.
Link every risk topic to the decision it threatens, and label the links.
Export the roadmap map as Markdown so I can paste it into the README.
Behind those requests: create and rename maps, add topics and whole subtrees, update and delete, draw and label cross-links between branches, set topic images, import any supported text format, export to any supported format — and undo and redo, so a change you didn't want is one step back, not a lost afternoon. The same operations you have in the app.
Does it cost anything?
Nothing, on every edition. MCP access is free and never metered — it isn't an AI feature that consumes Atlas Red credits, because the intelligence comes from your own assistant. It works on the Free edition (no credit card, no end date), and a Pro license doesn't gate it: every feature is in every edition, a license only lifts limits. Only photo and PDF import ever cost anything, because those need a model to read them.
What is an MCP server, and why does a mind mapping tool have one?
MCP — the Model Context Protocol — is a standard way for AI assistants to use external tools. Atlas Red runs one so an assistant can work on your actual maps: create them, restructure branches, import an outline, export a finished map. It isn't describing a map in chat; it's editing a real map in your workspace.
Which AI assistants can connect?
ChatGPT, through the plugin directory. Claude, as a connector. And any other MCP-capable client — the server is a standard remote MCP endpoint, so anything that speaks MCP can connect.
Why not just keep it in the chat?
An assistant is good at the hard part — getting the first version out of your head and into a shape — and a poor place to keep that shape. Scroll up far enough and the outline is gone; there's nothing to drag, nothing to fold, nothing to hand to someone else. Connected, each half does what it's good at: the assistant drafts and restructures; the map is where the thinking lives, gets edited, and leaves from. Start in chat and finish by hand, or the other way round.
Is it safe to let an assistant edit my maps?
Every change lands in your workspace where you can see it, and undo and redo are exposed too — so an unwanted edit is one step back, not a lost map. You can also export any map at any time, on every tier, so you always hold a copy outside the tool.
Do I need a Pro license to use MCP?
No — it works on the Free edition, no credit card, no end date. Pro lifts limits like the number of maps and topics; it doesn't gate MCP, because every feature is in every edition.
