Quickstart

Claude

  1. Open Claude and go to Customize -> Connectors.
  2. Click Add custom connector.
  3. Paste https://mcp.legalcode.md/mcp.
  4. Enable Legalcode from the connector/tools menu.
  5. Start a new chat or thread before using Legalcode. Conversations that were already open may not see newly added MCP servers.

ChatGPT

https://mcp.legalcode.md/mcp

  1. Open ChatGPT Settings -> Apps -> Advanced Settings and enable Developer Mode.
  2. Return to Settings -> Apps and click Create app.
  3. Paste https://mcp.legalcode.md/mcp as the MCP server URL. Free and Pro capabilities follow the connected account.
  4. Click Scan Tools, complete OAuth if prompted, then click Create.
  5. In a new chat, select Legalcode from the apps/tools picker when you need legal research.
  6. Start a new chat or thread before using Legalcode. Conversations that were already open may not see newly added MCP servers.

Copilot

  1. Open the Copilot MCP or connector settings for your workspace.
  2. Add Legalcode as a connector. Some tools call this a remote MCP server.
  3. Paste https://mcp.legalcode.md/mcp.
  4. Enable Legalcode in the tools list before asking Copilot for legal research.
  5. Start a new chat or thread before using Legalcode. Conversations that were already open may not see newly added MCP servers.

Cowork

Connect Legalcode using https://mcp.legalcode.md/mcp. If this workspace uses Legalcode plugins or legal workflows, use https://github.com/legalcode-md/plugins for setup directions.

  1. Open the workspace connector or MCP settings.
  2. Add Legalcode as a connector. Some tools call this a remote MCP server.

  4. Start a new chat or thread before using Legalcode. Conversations that were already open may not see newly added MCP servers.

Codex

  1. Open Codex Settings and go to MCP Servers.
  2. Add a new MCP server and choose Streamable HTTP.
  3. Give it a name, such as Legalcode.
  4. Paste https://mcp.legalcode.md/mcp. Free and Pro capabilities follow the connected account.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Click Authenticate on the MCP server you just created, complete sign-in, and Legalcode is ready to use.
  7. Start a new chat or thread before using Legalcode. Conversations that were already open may not see newly added MCP servers.
