WaveXML

Sync cameras and audio, then let your AI edit — local MCP that gives Claude/Codex/Cursor eyes and ears on multicam footage (still frames + transcript), shot QC and first-cut XML for Resolve/Premiere/FCP. Video never uploaded.

Let your AI edit with WaveXML

2 minutes, with subtitles. Open the video file if it doesn’t play.

Read the transcript

This is WaveXML. It syncs your cameras and sound recorders by their sound. It still works the way you know it. Drop in an FCP7 XML, FCPXML or OTIO from Resolve, Premiere or Final Cut, press Synchronize, and export the synced timeline back to your edit.

But now WaveXML does something new: it gives your AI superpowers for editing video. On its own, an AI like Claude can’t watch footage or hear sound. WaveXML gives it eyes and ears.

Step one: click Connect your AI, pick Claude, Codex or Cursor, and click Add. Step two: ask your AI in your own words. For example: “Connect to WaveXML MCP and using this MCP edit the wedding speeches.”

Now WaveXML does the heavy lifting. It lines up every camera and recorder by sound, and puts every clip at its real time, even when camera clocks are wrong. It measures every shot, so your AI knows what’s shaky, out of focus, dark or a fast swing, and it turns your clips into pictures your AI can look at. And it’s not only for multicam. For b-roll, highlights and social clips, WaveXML helps your AI pick the best shots and leave out the bad ones. Your AI makes the editing choices, and checks its cuts with WaveXML before you see them.

Step three: open the edit in Resolve, Final Cut or Premiere. In Resolve, multicams arrive with every angle still switchable, so fixing a cut takes one click. It works best with the DaVinci Resolve MCP. Connect both, and your AI can put the edit straight into your Resolve project.

And it learns your editing style. Tell it what you’d change, or show it your finished edit. WaveXML saves it in My AI rules, and every AI you connect follows them. Your video files stay on your computer. Your AI only sees the still frames it asks for.

WaveXML. Sync like always, or let your AI cut the first edit.

Three steps

No skill files to write and no settings to learn. You talk to your AI the way you’d talk to an assistant editor.

01

Connect your AI

Open WaveXML and click Connect your AI. Pick Claude, Codex or Cursor and click Add. Claude Code takes one copied command.

02

Ask in your own words

Tell your AI what to edit, from a timeline you exported or straight from the camera and recorder files.

03

Open the edit

Import it into Resolve, Final Cut or Premiere. In Resolve, multicams arrive with every angle still switchable.

Try asking

“Connect to WaveXML MCP and using this MCP edit the wedding speeches.”

What WaveXML gives your AI

WaveXML does the heavy lifting. Your AI only has to make the editing choices.

Sync by sound

Every camera and every recorder lined up by sound, from a timeline you export or from loose files. The same engine as the Synchronize button.

Real time, even when clocks are wrong

Every clip at the moment it really happened. Clips with no sound, like a drone, can be placed from one moment you know.

It sees what you’d see

Every shot measured for shake, soft focus, darkness and fast swings, always with the number. Shaky, out of focus, dark, a fast swing: the bad parts stay out.

Pictures your AI can look at

Frame sheets of any clip, so your AI can check faces, framing and what’s happening before it cuts.

It hears the sound

Sound levels and pauses, music beats and tempo for each part of a song, who is talking from the mic levels, and your transcripts lined up with the footage.

It writes the edit

Multicam edits, b-roll, highlights and social clips, including vertical, as FCPXML, FCP7 XML or OTIO for your editor.

It checks its own work

Your AI runs every cut through WaveXML’s check before you see it: whip pans, shaky or soft moments, and spots nobody looked at.

It learns your editing style

Tell your AI what you’d change, or show it your finished edit. WaveXML saves it in My AI rules, and every AI you connect follows them.

Your AI makes the choices

There is no AI model inside WaveXML. It never picks a shot or decides a cut.

WaveXML

  • Syncs every camera and recorder by sound
  • Measures every shot and every sound, with numbers
  • Makes the pictures your AI asks for
  • Remembers your rules
  • Checks the cut and writes the edit file

Your AI

  • Reads the facts and looks at the pictures
  • Picks the shots and the angles
  • Decides where every cut goes
  • Fixes what the check finds
  • Explains any choice when you ask

Works with your tools

Your AI app

Claude, Codex and Cursor with one click. Claude Code with one command. Any AI app that supports MCP (the standard way AI apps use tools). What is MCP?

DaVinci Resolve

Works best with the DaVinci Resolve MCP. Connect both, and your AI can put the edit straight into your Resolve project.

Final Cut Pro and Premiere

The edit comes as FCPXML, FCP7 XML or OTIO, the same files WaveXML already writes for syncing.

Your footage stays on your computer

WaveXML’s AI connection runs inside the app, on your Mac or PC. Your video files are never uploaded. Your AI only sees the still frames it asks for.

The frames and facts your AI reads go to your AI app’s maker, under their privacy policy. Your AI rules are saved on your computer and with your beta key. See the privacy policy.

Good to know

  • The edit is only as good as the AI you connect. Stronger models make better choices.
  • WaveXML doesn’t render video files. The edit opens in your editor.
  • WaveXML doesn’t recognise people or faces. Your AI looks at the frames.
  • Switchable multicam edits are tested in DaVinci Resolve. Final Cut Pro and Premiere get the same kind of XML files, but have had less testing.
  • You need an AI app that supports MCP.

How it compares

Eddie AI, Selects, Descript, Opus Clip and DaVinci Resolve Studio connect to AI apps too. They are AI editors with their own AI, or tools for one job. WaveXML is a sync app first, and a set of tools for the AI you already use. Read the comparison.

FAQ

Does WaveXML have its own AI?

No. There is no AI model inside WaveXML, and it never makes editing choices. It syncs, measures, remembers your rules, writes the edit and reports facts. The AI you connect makes every editing choice.

Which AI apps work with WaveXML?

Claude, Codex and Cursor can be added with one click in WaveXML’s Connect your AI window, and Claude Code with one copied command. Any AI app that supports MCP can connect.

Does WaveXML upload my footage?

Your video files are never uploaded. Your AI only sees the still frames it asks for. Those frames and the facts your AI reads go to your AI app’s maker, under their privacy policy.

What does it cost?

WaveXML is a free beta for Mac and Windows, with no credits to buy. You use the AI app you already have, on its own plan.

Is WaveXML the only editing tool with MCP?

No. Eddie AI, Selects, Descript, Opus Clip and DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 have MCP connections too. WaveXML is different in what its connection does: sync by sound, shot measurements and checks, switchable multicams and rules every AI follows, all running on your computer.

Can I still sync without AI?

Yes. WaveXML works the way it always has: drop in a timeline, press Synchronize, export. The AI connection is extra.
