splitforms is a hosted form backend: point any HTML, React, Next.js, WordPress or AI-built form at https://splitforms.com/api/submit and every submission is spam-filtered, saved to a dashboard and emailed to you, with no server, PHP or SMTP to run. Free includes 500 free submissions (no card, no time limit) and unlimited forms; Pro is $5/month for 5,000 a month and Annual is $49/year for 15,000 a month.

Rule-based on every plan: a hidden honeypot, a time-trap, per-IP rate limits and content scoring, with a spam folder you can review. No CAPTCHA is required.

Signed with HMAC-SHA256 (sha256= prefix), 8-second timeout, and one retry after about 2 seconds on network errors, timeouts and 5xx responses.

File uploads (paid)

Up to 5 files of 5 MB each per submission, once Storage is connected.

Is splitforms.com really a free form backend?

Yes, splitforms is a free form backend: the Free plan includes 500 form submissions in total, with no credit card and no time limit. It also includes unlimited forms, smart spam filtering, email notifications and the submissions dashboard. Pro ($5/month) or Annual ($49/year) add exports, webhooks and integrations when you need them.

How much does splitforms cost?

What happens when I use up the 500 free submissions?

When the 500 free splitforms submissions are used, new submissions are refused with an HTTP 429 response until you upgrade, because Free is a one-time total that does not refill monthly. Submissions you already received stay in your dashboard. Upgrading to Pro ($5/month) or Annual ($49/year) restores delivery immediately with the same access key, and there are no surprise charges.

What is a form backend, and how is it different from a form builder like Jotform or Google Forms?

A form backend receives submissions from a form you build and host yourself, so the design stays entirely yours. A form builder hosts the form on its own pages or in an embed. If you already have a site and want its form to work, use a form backend; if you want a hosted form with no code, a builder is simpler. splitforms also has a dashboard form builder and 60+ free HTML templates.

How is splitforms.com different from Formspree, Web3Forms, Basin, or Getform?

splitforms gives you 500 free submissions with no card, while Formspree Free is 50 a month, Basin 50 a month on one form, and Web3Forms 250 a month. Every splitforms plan has unlimited forms, Pro is $5/mo for 5,000 submissions a month, and Annual is $49/year for 15,000 a month. It also ships a hosted MCP server and signed webhooks.

How do I add a contact form to a static website?

To add a contact form to a static website, set the form's action to https://splitforms.com/api/submit and add a hidden input named access_key with your form's key. It works on any static site (Next.js, Astro, Hugo, Gatsby, GitHub Pages, Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, Vercel), with no backend code, no PHP and no SDK to install.

Can I use this for my Next.js / React / Astro / Vue project?

Yes, splitforms works the same way with Next.js, React, Astro, Vue and every other framework, because the integration is one POST request. HTML, Nuxt, Svelte, SvelteKit, Hugo, Gatsby and Remix work too: anywhere you can submit a form, you can use splitforms.com.

Does splitforms.com work with Webflow, Framer, Carrd, or WordPress?

Yes, splitforms works with Webflow, Framer, Carrd and WordPress: point the form action at https://splitforms.com/api/submit and add the hidden access_key input. Use Webflow's custom form action setting, Framer's form integration, Carrd's form-to-URL setting, or in WordPress the official splitforms plugin or a plain HTML block.

How does the form spam protection work?

splitforms uses smart spam filtering: rule-based server-side checks on every plan, with no CAPTCHA shown unless you enable reCAPTCHA or Turnstile. Filled honeypot fields and implausibly fast submissions are rejected before storage, per-IP rate limits throttle floods, and suspicious message content is quarantined in the Spam queue so you can review and restore false positives.

Can I forward form submissions to Slack, Discord, or Google Sheets?

Yes, splitforms forwards submissions to Slack, Discord and other destinations on paid plans (Pro $5/month or Annual $49/year). Paste a Slack incoming-webhook URL or Discord webhook URL and we auto-format for that destination, or send raw signed JSON to Zapier, n8n, your own server, or Google Sheets integrations.

Can I accept payments through my form?

Yes, splitforms forms can take Stripe payments on paid plans, and the money goes straight to your own Stripe account. Connect your Stripe account, set a fixed amount in the form's Payments settings, and submitters are sent to Stripe Checkout after they submit. Each submission is marked paid or unpaid.

Will my form submissions be safe and GDPR-compliant?

splitforms stores submissions in Supabase Postgres with row-level security, which prevents one customer from reading another customer's rows. Authorized service operators may access data only for support, security, and service operations. We never sell submissions or use them to train models. EU data residency is on the roadmap.

Can I use the same access key on multiple websites?

Yes, one splitforms access key works on multiple websites, and every plan includes unlimited forms if you prefer a separate key per site. Pro and Annual add the volume agencies need for lots of client forms.

What about file uploads on contact forms?

splitforms accepts file uploads on paid plans once you connect the Storage integration: up to 5 files of 5 MB each per submission. Storage is 500 MB on Pro and 5 GB on Annual. On the Free plan, text fields are saved but attached files are dropped.

How do I migrate from Formspree, Web3Forms, FormSubmit, or Basin?

To migrate a form from Formspree, Web3Forms, FormSubmit or Basin to splitforms, change its action URL to https://splitforms.com/api/submit and replace the access key. Your existing field names (name, email, message and so on) work as-is, and there are step-by-step guides for each competitor.
