Notiero

Lets ChatGPT, Claude and other MCP clients save notes into a dedicated AI folder in the user's Notiero notebook, and search or read that folder when the user allows it. Hosted, remote. Official MCP Registry name com.notiero/notiero, npm package notiero-mcp.

Hosted MCP Server

npx add-mcp 'https://notiero.com/mcp'

Installs into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and more

Documentation

Give your AI a key, and it saves notes into your Notiero notebook. Decisions, snippets, summaries, to-dos. It can add to a running log, and if you allow it, search what it saved before so it remembers across chats. You read everything in a calm app that syncs to every device. No database to run, no glue code.

What people have their AI save

Decisions. "We picked Postgres because..." so you never ask twice.

Snippets. The command or fix that finally worked.

Summaries. The short version of a long chat or a long doc.

To-dos. What is left for tomorrow, written down before you close the laptop.

Chats get lost and assistants forget between sessions. A note in Notiero stays, syncs to your phone, and you can search it later.

Examples

Save a decision.
You: "Save this to my Notiero: we chose Postgres over MongoDB because we need joins and reports."
Your AI calls write_note and saves it in your AI folder with a short title.

Find it again.
You, a week later: "What did we decide about the database? Check my Notiero."
Your AI calls search_notes, then read_note, and answers from the note it found.

Keep a running log.
You: "Add today's progress to my project log in Notiero: fixed the login bug."
Your AI finds the log and calls append_to_note with a dated line.

Tidy up.
You: "Put my trip notes in a Travel folder."
Your AI calls list_folders, then move_note for each trip note. Nothing is deleted.

Quickstart

Create a key

In Notiero, sign in, then open Settings › For your AI. Pick Add notes only, or Add and read the AI folder so your AI can look things up. Press Create a key and copy it, it is shown once.

Give it to your AI

Add the Notiero MCP server to your client (below), add the Claude skill if you use Claude, or call the API directly with the key.

Ask your AI to save things

"Save this to my Notiero." The note appears in your notebook the next time you open it.

Easiest: connect with one link no install

In Claude (web, desktop or phone) or ChatGPT, add a custom connector with this URL, press Connect, and approve it on the Notiero page that opens. No key to copy, nothing to install.

https://notiero.com/mcp

Step by step: Claude · ChatGPT. Claude Code picks up connectors you add in Claude when you sign in with the same account.

Pick your app

Step-by-step setup with the exact file path and config for each one:

MCP server recommended

Prefer running it on your computer, or your app has no connectors? Seven tools so Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf or any MCP client can save, organize and look up your notes. In Claude Code, one line:

claude mcp add --scope user --env NOTIERO_API_KEY=nti_your_key_here notiero -- npx -y notiero-mcp

In Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf and others, add this to the MCP config:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "notiero": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "notiero-mcp"],
      "env": { "NOTIERO_API_KEY": "nti_your_key_here" }
    }
  }
}

Restart your client, then ask it to "save this to Notiero." Set NOTIERO_API_URL only if you self-host.

The tools

ToolArgumentsDoesNeeds
write_notetext, title?, folder?, tags?, private?Saves a new note in your AI folder, optionally in a subfolder like Projects/Website. Returns its id. With private: true (passwords, keys) it goes outside the AI folder so it can never be read back.any
append_to_noteid, textAdds text to the end of a note in the AI folder. Good for running logs.any
move_noteid, folderMoves a note to another folder inside the AI folder. Never out of it.any
list_foldersnoneShows the folders inside the AI folder and how many notes each holds.read
search_notesquery, folder?, limit?Finds notes by words, best match first, optionally within one folder.read
read_noteidReturns one note's full text.read
list_notesfolder?, limit?Latest notes, optionally within one folder.read

No tool can delete or change what you wrote. The server also tells your AI when to save and to search before answering from memory.

Built to be reliable: every call has a timeout, network and server errors are retried with backoff, and each save carries an idempotency key, so a retry never saves the same note twice. Check your setup with npx -y notiero-mcp --version.

Your AI folder

Everything your AI writes goes into a folder called AI. It is the only part of your notebook a key can ever reach.

Add notes only keys can save and add to notes there. They cannot read anything.
Add and read keys can also search and read the notes in that folder, so your AI remembers what it saved last week.

Want your AI to know something you wrote yourself? Move that note into the AI folder. Want it hidden again? Move it out. Locked notes are never shared, even inside the folder.

Secrets your AI saves for you (a password, an API key) should use private: true. They land outside the AI folder, so even a reading key can never pull them back out.

Claude skill for Claude

The MCP server gives Claude the tools. This skill teaches it good habits: when a note is worth saving, how to title it so you can find it, to search before answering from memory, and to confirm in one line.

Claude Code:

mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/notiero && curl -fsSL https://notiero.com/for-your-ai/SKILL.md -o ~/.claude/skills/notiero/SKILL.md

Claude app (claude.ai, Desktop): download notiero-skill.zip, then upload it in Settings › Capabilities › Skills. You can also read the skill first.

Or use the API directly

Any language, any agent. Send the note as JSON with your key as a bearer token:

curl https://notiero.com/api/agent-note \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer nti_your_key_here" \
  -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{"title":"From my agent","text":"Remember: rotate the deploy token monthly."}'

A 200 means it is queued for your notebook:

{ "ok": true, "id": "agn-1790350824305-evvbjo", "folder": "AI" }

Add to it later, or search with a key that may read:

curl https://notiero.com/api/agent-note \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer nti_your_key_here" -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{"op":"append","id":"agn-1790350824305-evvbjo","text":"Done on 25 Sept."}'

curl "https://notiero.com/api/agent-note?q=deploy+token" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer nti_your_key_here"

Endpoints

All on https://notiero.com/api/agent-note with Authorization: Bearer nti_...

Errors: 401 invalid or revoked key · 403 write-only key tried to read · 400 empty text · 404 no such note in the AI folder · 413 too large · 429 too many notes waiting (open the app once). GET calls need a key that may read.

How it stays private

Your AI never touches your encrypted notebook. A new note lands in a small server-side inbox, encrypted at rest with a key for your account only, and the Notiero app encrypts it into your notebook on your device. Only the SHA-256 hash of a key is stored, so a leaked store never exposes a usable key.

If you create a key that may read, the app keeps a copy of your AI folder on the server so your AI can search it. That copy is encrypted at rest but the server can open it to answer searches, which is why it holds only that one folder, never a locked note, and nothing at all while you have no reading key. Revoke your last reading key and the copy is deleted.

No key can delete, and a key can only add to notes inside the AI folder. Revoke any key anytime in Settings › For your AI.

Common questions

When does the note show up?

The next time your Notiero app is open (on load, on sign-in, or when you switch back to the tab). It then syncs to all your devices like any note.

What should my agent save?

Anything worth keeping: decisions, code snippets, links, meeting notes, "remember this" items, running logs. It is your second brain that the AI can fill.

Is it free?

Yes. Notiero is free, and writing notes through the API is part of that.

How do I give my AI assistant a memory?

Give it somewhere to write. Connect Notiero with a key, and your assistant can save what matters as a note. Unlike a database or a Notion setup, there is nothing to build, one key and one tool.

Which AI tools work with it?

Any tool that supports MCP servers, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and Windsurf, through notiero-mcp. Claude also gets a ready skill (above). Anything else that can call a web address can use the API with the same key.

Can the AI read my notes?

Only if you allow it, and only your AI folder. An "add notes only" key cannot read anything. An "add and read" key can read the notes in your AI folder and nothing else. No key can delete.

Does it work in ChatGPT or on claude.ai?

Yes. Add https://notiero.com/mcp as a custom connector and approve it on the Notiero page. In ChatGPT this needs developer mode, on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Education. See the Claude and ChatGPT guides.

How do I disconnect an app?

Open Settings › For your AI in Notiero. Every connected app is listed there next to your keys. Press Revoke and it loses access at once.

Can I have more than one key?

Yes, up to ten. Use a separate key per agent or project so you can revoke one without touching the others. Old keys keep working as add-only keys.
