- Install the remote URL in an HTTP-capable MCP host.
- Connect and negotiate the MCP version.
- Call
tools/list; select one of the returned names and validate arguments against its Input Schema. - Preserve tool errors and structured results. Never infer success after an error.

Reference currency conversion
Use the direct everyday_calculate actions below. The calculator registry remains separate; currency actions do not require catalog or describe.
{"name":"everyday_calculate","arguments":{"request":{"action":"currency_convert","amount":"100.00","from":"USD","to":"EUR"}}}
For a historical reference conversion, add date as a valid past or current UTC date in YYYY-MM-DD format. Amounts are signed decimal strings, with at most 30 integer digits and 18 fractional digits. Currency codes are three ASCII letters and accept lower case. Optional decimalPlaces is an integer from 0 to 8; otherwise the target currency's usual decimal places are used. Rounding is half up.
{"name":"everyday_calculate","arguments":{"request":{"action":"currency_currencies","query":"dollar","offset":0,"limit":20}}}
The current currency list is paginated; follow nextOffset. A listed currency does not guarantee every pair or historical date is available. Older currencies may be available for historical conversions even when absent from the current list.
Report the result, currency, rate, rateDate, and source. Frankfurter v2 supplies blended reference data from official sources. The actual rate date can precede the requested date. These are not live trading or bank/card quotes and exclude fees and spreads. Provider errors remain tool errors; do not invent a fallback rate. Only currency codes and the requested date go upstream, never the amount.
Optional skills
Read the workflow directory. Hosts that support io.modelcontextprotocol/skills can discover entries with skills/list, refresh one with skills/get, and read its files with resources/read. Verify file digests and sizes against the manifest. File retrieval alone does not activate a skill; use the host's skill-loading mechanism. Other clients can read these as ordinary resources and use the same fourteen tools independently.
Discover calculators without loading every parameter schema
Use everyday_calculate action catalog with a search query, then describe with a returned calculator ID, then calculate with its validated parameters. Read the directory of 67 calculators. These three actions are standard MCP tool calls and require no additional protocol extension. The original direct recipe, shopping merge and bill-split actions retain their schemas.
{"name":"everyday_calculate","arguments":{"request":{"action":"catalog","query":"fuel"}}}
{"name":"everyday_calculate","arguments":{"request":{"action":"describe","calculator":"travel.fuel_cost"}}}
The description supplies inputSchema, example parameters and method sources. Calculation results contain values, units and assumptions. Decimal-string money, regional unit names and explicit fee/rate inputs prevent ambiguous interpretation. Random selection operations are non-deterministic. Individual schemas and result limits remain authoritative.
Send feedback or request a feature
When the user wants to contact the Everyday MCP maintainers, call ask_for. Set kind to feedback, feature_request, or bug_report, with a title up to 160 characters and a message up to 4,000 characters. No login or contact details are required.
{
"name": "ask_for",
"arguments": {
"request": {
"kind": "feature_request",
"title": "Compare grocery package sizes",
"message": "Please add a tool to compare unit prices for packages with different weights."
}
}
}
The result includes status: received and a receipt ID. The full message is stored for maintainer review until removed; submissions are not publicly listed. The receipt confirms receipt of the request, without promising a response or implementation.
Selection rules
- Use
everyday_calculatefor the calculator directory, exact recipe scaling, compatible shopping-unit merging, and itemized bill splits. Calculator-specific fields are discovered throughdescribe. - Use
calendarto discover holiday jurisdictions before requesting holidays. ICS generation and parsing handle a documented bounded subset; calls do not write a personal calendar. - Use IANA zones and timestamps with explicit offsets for time operations. Choose seconds or milliseconds explicitly for epoch conversion.
- Keep a timer ID and capability together. Put the capability only in MCP tool arguments, never in a URL or log. There is no global timer list or credential recovery.
- Use explicit regional units such as
US_galorImperial_gal, and explicit data units such asGBorGiB. - Text and data utilities process supplied content. URL, HTML, sitemap, and sharing-link operations do not fetch remote pages.
Version, events, and limits
Everyday MCP version 0.3.0 targets MCP 2026-07-28 and retains legacy 2025-series compatibility. Actual compatibility depends on the negotiated host handshake.
timer.fired follows the experimental Events proposal. Check advertised capabilities. Polling, push delivery, background wake-up, and user notification depend on the host.
The server accepts HTTP request bodies up to 1 MiB, limits each observed network peer IP to 120 requests per minute and four concurrent MCP requests, and applies tighter per-tool schema limits. A configured trusted proxy supplies the peer IP; shared network addresses can aggregate several end users. Examples include 100 KiB for most text operations, 200 KiB and 2,000 cues for subtitles, and a 366-day holiday range. Read the live schema before every call.
Source boundaries
Holiday discovery uses date-holidays 3.37.0 under its published license terms. Coverage varies by jurisdiction and release; China results do not represent annual adjusted working-day schedules.
Unit conversion uses fixed definitions documented in the returned source metadata. Recipe quantities use exact rational arithmetic. Bill splits use integer minor units and disclosed rounding/allocation rules. Subtitle, ICS, structured-data, codec, and text operations disclose unsupported input or transformation loss through errors and notes.
Discovery documents

- Calculator index and plain HTML calculator directory
- Concise agent-readable service summary
- Practical resource guides for personal-agent workflows
- Plain HTML catalog and connection page
llms.txt and this guide are supplementary documents. They do not replace MCP discovery or host installation approval.
