Zarla’s MCP server, in plain facts
Zarla’s MCP server is at https://www.zarla.com/api/mcp — a remote Model Context Protocol server over Streamable HTTP. You sign in with OAuth in your browser; there are no API keys or tokens to copy.
It works in Claude (claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Claude Code), ChatGPT (Developer mode), Cursor, Gemini CLI and any MCP client. Zarla was published in the official MCP Registry as com.zarla/website-builder on September 17, 2026, and you can find our public connector kit on GitHub: github.com/zarlahq/website-builder-mcp.
- 36 tools: create a site, list your sites, read and edit pages and sections, update your design or switch to another of 1,200+ designs offered by Zarla. Set your logo, update business details, optimize for SEO, change header and footer, upload images, manage products and read orders, refresh a preview, publish, and more.
- Draft first: every website edit lands in a private draft you can ask to preview; publishing your draft changes to the live site requires an explicit request.
- Preview: see your site rendered inside ChatGPT right where you chat. Claude.ai and Claude Desktop fall back to an “Open in browser” button, while Claude Code and Cursor provide a preview link.
- Free to build and preview: publishing live needs a paid plan.
Everything below — the table of website builders with an MCP server, the setup per app, the tool list — was checked against the vendors’ own pages on September 17, 2026 and carries its sources.
Website builders with an MCP server (2026)
Every builder in this table runs an official MCP server, so an AI assistant can drive it through the Model Context Protocol today. What differs is whether that server is listed in Claude’s connectors directory and in ChatGPT, and what it is built for: a whole website, a store, a hosting account, or domain search only.
| Builder | In Claude’s directory | In ChatGPT | Built for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zarla | In progress — Works today as a custom connector on every Claude plan. Directory listing in progress. | In progress — Connects today through ChatGPT’s Developer mode. App listing in progress. | Building and running a whole website by chat with 36 tools: pages, design, logo, SEO, products and orders, publishing. No code, no hosting to set up. |
| Wix | Yes — Added January 2026 | Yes — Wix app launched March 2, 2026 (start a prompt with @Wix) | Developers, agencies and Wix site owners: manage Wix sites and business apps (Stores, Bookings, Blog) by chat. New sites by chat through the Wix app in ChatGPT, which generates a Wix Harmony site from a description. |
| Webflow | Yes — Added January 2026 (28 tools, Developer tools category) | Yes — Webflow app in ChatGPT, announced July 1, 2026 | Developers and designers: CMS collections, pages, elements, styles, assets, analytics. |
| WordPress.com | Yes — Added January 2026 | Yes — WordPress.com plugin for ChatGPT | WordPress.com sites on paid plans: posts, pages, media, comments and stats (60+ abilities). |
| GoDaddy | Yes — Added January 2026 (domain search) | Yes — Verified app in ChatGPT’s directory, April 2026 | Domain search only: availability checks and name suggestions through two read-only tools, no sign-in. No website tools, no purchases. |
| Hostinger | No — Connects as a custom server instead (Hostinger documents Claude Code and claude.ai custom connectors) | No — Not found in ChatGPT’s apps directory. Hostinger Connector offers a ‘Connect with ChatGPT’ setup. | Hosting-account automation: websites, VPS, domains and DNS, email marketing, billing. |
| Squarespace | No — Not in the directory on the check date | No — Not found in ChatGPT’s apps directory. Squarespace’s docs list ChatGPT among the clients that can call its server. | Domain name search and pricing only, with no sign-in: two read-only tools that hand off to a checkout link on squarespace.com. No website or content tools in the server Squarespace documents. |
| Shopify | Yes — Added April 2026 (25 tools) | Yes — Shopify plugin for ChatGPT | Store owners: describe a business and claim a storefront preview as a store, then products, orders, inventory, discounts and analytics. |
Checked September 17, 2026 against each vendor’s own documentation, the official MCP Registry (registry.modelcontextprotocol.io) and Claude’s connectors directory (claude.com/connectors). A check under In ChatGPT means an app or plugin in ChatGPT’s apps directory. Sources for every row are listed below the table.

30 seconds02
Sign in to Zarla when the browser opens
Zarla’s sign-in page opens. Approve the connection and you’re done: no keys, no tokens, nothing to renew.
One connection covers your whole account, so the assistant can create new sites and work on the ones you own. The AI apps screen in Zarla lists every connected app, and Disconnect ends its access immediately.
One approval03
Ask for the site you want
“Build a website for my mobile dog-grooming business in Denver.” The assistant creates the site with its home page, adds the pages you ask for one at a time, changes the design, sets your logo, updates SEO, adds products — and publishes when you say so.
On Zarla’s Free plan you build and preview. Publishing asks for a paid plan and picks up where you left off.
Minutes
The 36 tools, grouped
Site owners ask for changes in plain language; the assistant uses these tools behind the scenes to make it happen. Tools work only on your own websites and products — leads, bookings and invoices will continue to be accessed through your Zarla dashboard.
Sites and pages
create_site, list_sites, get_site, get_page, add_page, remove_page — create a site from a description, add pages for the searches you want to win, read what’s there.
Sections
add_block, update_block, reorder_blocks, remove_block, list_block_types — every section on every page: hero, services, testimonials, FAQ, contact, gallery.
Design and logo
update_design, list_designs, switch_design, set_logo, remove_logo — colours and fonts, a move onto another of Zarla’s 1,200+ designs with your content kept, your logo in the header, footer and browser tab.
Business details and SEO
update_business_info, update_seo — name, phone, address and hours kept consistent across the site; page titles, descriptions and headings for the searches you want.
Header and footer
update_header, update_footer — navigation, contact details and the footer that appears on every page.
Images
request_image_upload, finalize_image_upload, list_site_photos — drop a photo into the chat and it lands on your site; browse the photos already there.
Products and orders
create_product, update_product, list_products, get_product, get_product_settings, request_product_file_upload, finalize_product_file_upload, list_orders, get_order, get_payments_status — list products with checkout (payments set up in Zarla), update prices, read recent orders.
Preview and publish
show_site_preview, publish_site — refresh the draft preview (in the chat on ChatGPT, Open in browser on Claude, a link on Claude Code and Cursor), then put the draft live once you approve. Any publish needs a paid plan.

A hosted website, run in plain words
A hosted website, not a pile of files
Nothing to deploy, nothing to install
Many MCP servers for websites write HTML, CSS and JavaScript that you then deploy to a static host. Zarla’s server edits a live, hosted website — pages, sections, design, SEO, products — and publishes it for you on Zarla’s hosting. There is no build step, no deploy, no DNS to touch.

Tools named after what an owner asks for
Add a services section, put the new logo in, rewrite the SEO for “salon Boulder”, add the $45 wash, publish: the tools are the operations a site owner asks for, not file-system operations. Developer-oriented MCP servers assume you can reason about a CMS or write code; Zarla assumes you can describe your business.
High-impact opportunity
You're ranking #8 for “emergency electrician sydney” — just outside the top 5. Adding 2 more suburb names to your services page could move you into the top 3 within 2 weeks.
Win this week
You moved from #14 → #6 for “switchboard upgrade sydney” after updating your services page last Tuesday. Keep it up.

Ask to see your site. Where it shows depends on the app.
Every website edit lands in a private draft; ask for a preview and the server refreshes it. Nothing goes live until you publish.
- Renders inside ChatGPT (Developer mode required) with page chips and a fullscreen Mobile / Desktop view
- Available in claude.ai and Claude Desktop as a button that opens your preview in a new browser tab
- Claude Code and Cursor show a preview link
- Most apps ask you to approve a publish before it runs — if yours doesn’t, ask to see the draft first
- Publishing needs a paid Zarla plan: on the Free plan you’ll see an upgrade link, publishing resumes after you upgrade
- Each app checked end-to-end (connect, list, edit, preview, publish) in September 2026

MCP website builder — common questions
What is an MCP website builder?
An MCP website builder is a website-builder product that exposes its operations to AI assistants through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) — the open standard released by Anthropic in late 2024 and supported by Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini CLI and other MCP clients. Instead of generating HTML for you to host, the assistant calls tools the builder exposes — create a site, edit a section, set the logo, add a product, publish — and a real hosted website changes. Zarla’s server exposes 36 such tools at https://www.zarla.com/api/mcp with OAuth sign-in.
Which website builders have an MCP server?
As checked on September 17, 2026: Zarla, Wix, Webflow, WordPress.com, Shopify and Hostinger run official MCP servers that manage a website, store or hosting account; GoDaddy and Squarespace run official servers for domain search only. Wix, Webflow, WordPress.com, GoDaddy and Shopify are listed in Claude’s connectors directory, and the same five have an app or plugin in ChatGPT. Zarla is in the official MCP Registry and works today as a custom connector in Claude and through Developer mode in ChatGPT, with directory listings in progress. The table above carries every source.
Does Wix have an MCP?
Yes. Wix runs an official MCP server at mcp.wix.com (com.wix/mcp in the MCP Registry), has a connector in Claude’s directory (added January 2026) and launched a Wix app in ChatGPT on March 2, 2026 that generates a Wix Harmony site from a description. It is aimed at developers, agencies and Wix site owners — managing Wix sites and business apps by chat; a new Wix site from a description is the Wix app in ChatGPT, not the Claude connector. Zarla’s server is built for building and running a hosted website by chat, with products and orders through the same connection, free to build and preview. Sources and dates are listed under the table above; checked September 17, 2026.
Is there an MCP for WordPress?
Yes, two kinds. WordPress.com runs an official MCP server on every paid plan, with a connector in Claude’s directory (added January 2026) and a ChatGPT plugin; it manages posts, pages, media, comments and stats. Self-hosted WordPress relies on plugins that turn a site into an MCP server — several are in the official MCP Registry. Both need a WordPress site and hosting in place first; Zarla’s server creates and hosts the site itself. Checked September 17, 2026.
Does Squarespace have an MCP?
Yes, for domains only. Squarespace’s official MCP server at mcp.squarespace.com (no sign-in needed) searches and prices domain names through two read-only tools, then hands you a checkout link on squarespace.com — it never registers a domain or charges a card itself. The server Squarespace documents has no website or content tools. It was not in Claude’s connectors directory when we checked on September 17, 2026.
Which AI apps work with Zarla?
Claude (claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Claude Code), ChatGPT in Developer mode, Cursor and Gemini CLI — each one exercised end to end on September 10 and 11, 2026: connect, list sites, edit, preview, publish. Any other MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth sign-in should work the same way; the connection link is the same everywhere. Setup for each app is in the help center.
Is the MCP website builder free?
Building and previewing are free. Any publish — to a free Zarla address or your own domain — needs a paid plan; see our plans. The free Claude plan works (one custom connector). In ChatGPT, adding an app is a Developer-mode feature today, which OpenAI lists for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education accounts.
What can the assistant do — and not do — through the connection?
It can create sites, add and remove pages, edit every section, change the design or switch designs, and set the logo. It can also update business details, SEO, header and footer, upload images, manage products and read orders, refresh the preview and publish. It cannot touch your leads inbox, bookings or invoices — those stay in your Zarla dashboard. A few site settings still happen in Zarla itself: your contact form’s fields, the footer’s link columns, deleting a site, or taking a site offline.
What happens if the assistant makes a mistake?
Website edits land in your private draft, not on your live site. Open the draft in the Zarla editor or the preview and change anything, or ask the assistant to put it back. Publishing is an explicit step — most apps ask you to approve it first; if yours doesn’t, ask to see the draft first. Disconnect on the AI apps screen ends an app’s access immediately. One exception to know: if your site is already live and selling, product price and availability changes reach checkout right away — ask for a republish afterwards so the page matches.
How is this different from a code-generation MCP server?
A code-generation server writes HTML, CSS and JavaScript files that you then deploy somewhere — a static host, a repository, a CDN. Zarla’s server doesn’t write files; it operates a live, hosted website that already has hosting, SEO, products and a lead inbox built in. Different problem, different solution.
Can I switch AI apps mid-project?
Yes. One account, any number of connected apps: connect Claude and Cursor to the same Zarla account and both see the same sites. Use Claude today, ChatGPT tomorrow, Cursor on Friday — the site stays, the assistant changes.
Can I still use the Zarla editor directly?
Yes. The Zarla editor (chat and click-to-edit) and the MCP connection work on the same draft. Edit in Zarla on your phone over lunch, ask Claude on your laptop in the evening, check orders from ChatGPT in the morning. Same site, every surface.
Where is Zarla’s MCP server listed?
In the official MCP Registry as com.zarla/website-builder (published September 17, 2026), with the public connector kit — setup files for Claude Code, Cursor and Gemini CLI, example prompts, the tool list — at github.com/zarlahq/website-builder-mcp. Listings in Claude’s connectors directory and in ChatGPT’s apps are in progress; until they land, Zarla connects as a custom connector in Claude and through Developer mode in ChatGPT.
What’s the difference between this page and the Claude and ChatGPT pages?
Same server, three guides. The Claude page is the walkthrough for claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code. The ChatGPT page covers Developer mode and the live preview that renders in the chat. This page is the assistant-agnostic record: the facts about the server, the dated table of website builders with an MCP server, and the full tool list.
