What is an MCP server integration?
The MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server integration is a connection between our SourceGeek backend and any Large Language Models (LLMs) or AI Agents. It allows the LLM or AI to move beyond just generating text to actually performing actions, retrieving live information, and automating complex workflows securely and efficiently.
What is the benefit for me?
The most important benefit of this integration is that you can just keep working in your own environment, like ChatGPT or Gemini, and just use all the tools offered by SourceGeek and mix them up with your own way of working.
This does help you save time, reduce manual work, and streamline your recruitment operations. By automating data sync and system connectivity, it ensures faster, more accurate workflows. So you can focus on hiring, not handling integrations.
Get credentials
It's extremely simple to retrieve the credentials from our SourceGeek platform which you need in your LLM or AI Agent. If you are already a user on our platform, you can start at Step 3. If not, please start with Step 1.
Step 1: Registration
Before creating the API you first need to register yourself on our platform. Go to https://app.sourcegeek.com and register with your LinkedIn account. More information about the registration process can be found here.
Step 2: Connecting with LinkedIn using our browser extension
After registering you need to install a small browser extension and set up a session. All information about this extension can be found here.
Step 3: Create the credentials for the MCP set up
The final step is to create the credentials for the MCP set up. This can be done in the Personal Settings menu or via this link:
https://app.sourcegeek.com/settings/integrations
Click on 'Add Integration' and on 'Configure' within the SourceGeek MCP section.
Click on the final 'Create MCP Credentials' button and you will see the values you can use within your LLM or AI Agent.
Now go to your LLM or AI Agent and use these values within their platform. We have written down the steps you need to do within the most common LLMS and AI Agents below.
Integration with ChatGPT (OpenAI)
Once you have created the SourceGeek MCP Server credentials, you can go to your ChatGPT instance and set up the MCP connection there.
Currently our app is in the verification process within OpenAI to become an official app in their marketplace. Therefor in order to enable the MCP connection you need to do a few extra steps, written down below.
- Within ChatGPT, click on your account in the bottom left and select 'Settings'
- In the dialog window, select the option 'Apps' in the menu on the left
- Go to the 'Advanced Settings' in the Apps menu and enable Developer Mode
- Within the same window, click on 'Create App' at the top right and the follow screen will be shown.
Within this screen, fill in the Name and optional an Icon or a Description.
The other fields can be filled in with the information you got from our integration page.
- The MCP Server url is: https://app.sourcegeek.com/api/mcp
- Select as the authentication protocol the OAuth
- Fill in the client ID which you received from our platform (starting with 'mcp_')
- Fill in the Client Secret which you received from our platform (starting with 'mcp_secret_')
- Read and check the Checkbox about the warning
- Click on 'Create'
Now the page will reload and possibly you need to login once at LinkedIn. After that the integration has finished. At all time you can remove the connection with the same Apps menu.
To make use of all the SourceGeek tools and features, select it from the + button and start exploring the enticements of the tools and the platform.
