Somvia

What an Apple Health MCP server does
Apple Health stores data on your iPhone. An MCP server gives a compatible AI client a standard set of tools for reading that data. Instead of pasting a screenshot or uploading one giant file, the client can ask for a bounded date range, list the available workout sessions, and fetch a deeper series only when the question needs it.
Somvia separates the two jobs: the iPhone app handles Health authorization and syncing; the hosted MCP endpoint answers authenticated, read-only tool calls. The endpoint is https://somvia.app/mcp.
The useful distinction is depth, not “AI health” in general. Daily totals can answer “how many steps?” Training questions often need the session underneath them: intervals, splits, heart-rate shape, speed, power, or cadence.
How the remote MCP flow works
-
Choose what Somvia may read
Install Somvia on iPhone, sign in with Apple, and authorize only the Apple Health categories you want to share. -
Sync the history you need
Select a 7, 30, 90, or 180-day window for daily measurements. Workout sessions and available detail series can cover up to 180 days. -
Connect your MCP client
GUI clients can use OAuth and Sign in with Apple. Headless or autonomous agents can use the privatesom_access token shown in the app. -
Ask from the agent you already use
The agent discovers Somvia's tools and fetches only the structured data required for the answer.
Remote MCP, local MCP, or export?
| Approach | Good fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| XML or CSV export | One-off archival analysis and tools that ingest a complete file | Manual, often large, and quickly becomes stale |
| Local MCP server | Users who want processing tied to their own computer | A machine and local server must remain available to the client |
| Somvia remote MCP | Automatic sync and access from multiple agents or devices | Selected data is stored on Somvia's managed cloud service until you delete it |
No option is universally best. Somvia is designed for people who value a continuously available endpoint and structured workout depth more than an entirely device-local workflow.
What an agent can query
| Layer | Examples | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Daily measurements | Sleep, HRV, resting heart rate, steps, active energy | Trend and cross-metric questions |
| Workout summary | Activity, duration, distance, pace, energy, splits | Compare sessions without loading every sample |
| Workout series | Heart rate, speed, route, power, cadence, stroke rate | Analyze intervals, effort shape, pacing, and recovery |
The exact fields depend on what Apple Health recorded and what you selected. Somvia never invents a missing series, and it does not write to Apple Health.
Connect the client you use
Hermes Agent Remote HTTP MCP with a bearer token and no browser sign-in. OpenClaw Add Somvia as a Streamable HTTP server and compare it with the native daily summary. Claude Add the remote connector URL and authenticate with Apple. ChatGPT Understand the native Health option and the remote MCP path.
Questions worth asking
- Compare my last four interval runs. Did pace improve at a similar heart rate?
- How did sleep duration and HRV change on the nights before my strongest workouts?
- Show the pacing and heart-rate drift across my long runs this month.
- Which training days were followed by a lower resting heart rate instead of a higher one?
These are personal fitness and wellness questions, not medical diagnosis. Use qualified medical care for symptoms, treatment, or clinical decisions.
Frequently asked questions
What is an Apple Health MCP server?
It is a bridge that exposes authorized Apple Health measurements as structured, read-only tools using the Model Context Protocol. A compatible client can request only the dates and detail needed for a question.
Does Somvia require an Apple Health XML export?
No. The iPhone app reads the Health categories you authorize and syncs the selected history to your private endpoint.
Which AI clients can connect?
Somvia uses standard Streamable HTTP MCP. OAuth-capable clients can sign in with Apple, while clients that connect with a key, such as Hermes, OpenClaw, Grok and Muse, can use an app-issued bearer token.
