Form ADV, exactly as filed — in your AI assistant.

Every SEC-registered investment adviser — assets, clients, accounts, custody, and disclosures — served over the Model Context Protocol. No login, no keys. Updated daily.

MCP server

Connect your assistant

ADVmcp is MCP-first. Point Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client that speaks Streamable HTTP at this endpoint and query Form ADV directly. No account, no API key — the data is public SEC filings.

  • search_firmsFind advisers by name, CRD, state, or AUM
  • get_firmFull filed profile for one CRD
  • top_firmsRank advisers by a filed metric
  • firm_changesField-level filing history
  • list_skillsCatalog of the guided workflows on this server
  • get_skillFull instructions for one workflow
  • cohort_statsPercentile distributions for a defined cohort

Fair-use limits keep the endpoint stable: 60 tool calls per minute, 900 per hour, and 5,000 per day per client. Over the limit, calls return an error with a retry delay.

Skills

Form ADV is public. Reading it well isn’t.

Each skill is a written procedure — what to pull, in what order, how to read it, and what the filing will not support. Your assistant loads one from the server the moment it needs it. Nothing to install, nothing to copy, nothing to keep in sync.

    • Report figures exactly as filed. Never estimate, interpolate, or adjust a number the firm did not file.
    • A null field means not reported on the filing — never render it as zero or none.
    • Form ADV data is not an endorsement, rating, or investment, legal, or employment advice.
    • Never characterise a disciplinary disclosure beyond what the Item 11 flag literally says.Callssearch_firmsget_firmtop_firmsfirm_changescohort_statscohort_chart

    get_skill(" firm-diligence-brief ") Guardrails

    • Report figures exactly as filed; label any ratio you compute as derived.
    • Never characterise an Item 11 disclosure beyond the flag — send the reader to the DRP on IAPD.
    • Custody true is not a finding on its own; frame it as a question, not a concern.
    • No adjectives about quality — well-run, reputable, boutique are not on the form.

“ Fee-only RIAs in Texas between $200M and $600M, retail book, no disclosures — who should we look at? ”

    get_skill(" ria-acquisition-screen ") Guardrails

    • No valuation. Never estimate revenue, EBITDA, margins, multiples, or firm value — the ADV carries none of them and this server does not do valuation.
    • Report figures exactly as filed; label every ratio you compute as derived.
    • Never infer owner age, succession risk, or seller readiness — Schedule A ownership is not served and nothing on Part 1A implies intent to sell.
    • Never present a shortlist as a recommendation to approach, offer, or transact.
    • Screening output is a research starting point, not investment, legal, or M&A advice.
    • Say what the screen missed. If the AUM band was not walked to exhaustion, state which slice remains uncovered.Callssearch_firmsget_firmfirm_changes

    Version 1.2.1

  • Workflowadvisorconsultantm&aplatformPeer BenchmarkPlace one adviser against a defined cohort as percentiles rather than adjectives — eleven distribution measures and two base rates in a single cohort_stats call, composition against named peers, and five years of filed trajectory (April 2021 – August 2026).cohort_statscohort_chartsearch_firmsget_firmfirm_changes6 guardrail s

“ How does our firm compare to other Texas RIAs our size? ”

    get_skill(" peer-benchmark ") Guardrails

    • A percentile is a position, not a grade. Never describe a firm as efficient, lean, bloated, underperforming, or behind its peers.
    • Report figures exactly as filed and label every ratio, percentile, and base rate as derived.
    • State the cohort definition and its size wherever you state a percentile — a percentile without its cohort is meaningless.
    • No revenue, margin, profitability, or valuation inference. Form ADV carries none of them.
    • A change between filings is a change in filed values, not proof of flows — growth comparisons must carry the restatement caveat and quote both dates.
    • Never present a benchmark as a recommendation to change pricing, staffing, or strategy.Callscohort_statscohort_chartsearch_firmsget_firmfirm_changes

“ Here are the 40 CRDs on our platform — which ones need compliance review? ”

    get_skill(" custody-disclosure-triage ") Guardrails

    • Never characterise a disclosure beyond the section its flag names. The Disclosure Reporting Page on IAPD holds what actually happened; you do not.
    • Custody is reported by roughly 60% of registered advisers. Never present a custody flag alone as a finding.
    • Report exactly as filed, and never imply wrongdoing from a flag, a pending proceeding, or an affiliate-level event.
    • This is a triage list for human review, not a compliance determination, an adverse action, or legal advice.
    • Never recommend terminating, declining, or reporting a firm.Callssearch_firmsget_firm

    Version 1.1.0

  • Workflowcomplianceplatformm&aadvisorrecruiterFiling Change MonitorWatch a list of advisers and report what actually changed between filings — separating real events from restatements, routine lifecycle, and noise. Filing history runs April 2021 to August 2026: 33 dated comparison points, month-over-month for most of it and daily since 12 August 2026.firm_changesget_firmsearch_firms6 guardrail s

“ Here are the 20 CRDs we cover — what moved since last week? ”

    get_skill(" filing-change-monitor ") Guardrails

    • A large change between filings is more often a restatement than a business event. Never narrate a delta as money moving unless the filing supports it.
    • Report exactly what the diff says, with both dates. Never infer a cause, a transaction, or an intention.
    • A firm's earliest row is a first-capture marker, not a real-world event. Never report it as a change.
    • Never imply wrongdoing from a disclosure flip, and never treat a disclosure disappearing as exoneration.
    • State the window you actually covered. A quiet window is a finding, not a failure — do not manufacture significance to fill a report.
    • This is a monitoring summary for human review, not a compliance determination, an alert of misconduct, or investment advice.Callsfirm_changesget_firmsearch_firms

    Version 1.4.0

  • Workflowcomplianceadvisorjournalistm&arecruiterplatformVerify a ClaimCheck a public claim about an adviser against what the firm actually filed — supported, differs, not on the form, or a definitional gap, with dates attached and no accusations.search_firmsget_firmfirm_changescohort_stats9 guardrail s

“ Their site says they manage $2B and are fee-only with a clean record. What does the ADV say? ”

    get_skill(" verify-a-claim ") Guardrails

    • Never call a claim false, untrue, misleading, deceptive, inflated, or fraudulent, and never imply wrongdoing. Report what the filing says beside what was claimed; a gap is a question to put to the firm, never a finding.
    • Not on the form is never rendered as a contradiction. The absence of a filed fact is never evidence against the claim.
    • Name the definitional gap before reporting any gap. Regulatory AUM is a defined term; marketing assets figures can legitimately differ. Fee-only is not a Form ADV field. Clients, families, and households are not the filed client counts.
    • Load adv-form-literacy first and use its definitions — this skill must not be run without it.
    • Always quote the filing date and the date of the claim where known. A claim and a filing from different dates are not inconsistent by that fact alone.
    • Never characterise an Item 11 disclosure beyond what the flag literally says; send the reader to the DRP on IAPD.
    • Report every figure exactly as filed; label any ratio you compute as derived.
    • No revenue, EBITDA, margin, profitability, or valuation inference — Form ADV carries none of them.
    • This is a filing comparison for human review — not a compliance determination, adverse action, accusation, fact-check for publication, or investment, legal, or employment advice.Callssearch_firmsget_firmfirm_changescohort_stats
