Getting started

Three steps, and you’re talking to your portal

   Copy your server address

   Open MCP connections in your FormaPortal dashboard. Your address is waiting there.

   Give it to your assistant

   Paste it into your assistant’s connector or MCP settings. In Claude, add it as a custom connector.

   Sign in and set the limits

   Sign in with your FormaPortal account, tick the portals it may use, and decide whether it may make changes.

Questions about the MCP server

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants use outside tools and data. FormaPortal runs an MCP server, so an assistant that supports MCP can work with your portal directly.

Which assistants work with it?

Claude, and any other assistant or MCP client that connects to remote MCP servers and signs in with OAuth.

Can the assistant see other portals?

No. It reaches only the portals you tick when you connect, and inside those, only what your role allows.

Can it change or delete things?

Only if you allow changes when you connect, and only what your role allows. Every change is recorded in the audit log under your name. Tools that make changes are marked as such, so assistants that support it ask you before using them.

Does everyone on my team need their own connection?

Yes. Each person connects with their own login, so every call runs with their role and is recorded under their name.
