Public queries (exact search, compounds and public reactions, structure rendering, stoichiometry) work without an account; structure search, skills, personal data, and write actions require a connected account. Restricted calls receive a standard OAuth challenge; clients with standard MCP OAuth handle it through the MCP authorization flow (sign in or register, then approve).

Standard OAuth authorization

Structure search, skills (browsing and saving), personal data, and write operations require the matching scopes. Clients using standard MCP OAuth obtain access through the HGS account authorization (Authorization Code + PKCE S256, scopes read / reaction:write / skill:write); the authorization page lists the requested permissions.

AI Key compatibility

MCP clients without standard OAuth account-linking support can use an AI Key: create one under Account settings → AI Key and delete it at any time; send it as Authorization: Bearer <AI Key>. This is the compatibility path for clients without OAuth support.

Agent Plugin

The plugin package follows the agent-plugins.org specification (containing plugin.json, mcp.json, and icon) for compatible clients. You can also connect directly to the MCP endpoint below — no plugin required.

Data & authorization

• Visibility is set when saving; the tool instructions tell the AI to default to private and to get your confirmation before making a record public
• The tool instructions require the AI to show you a draft and get your confirmation before saving
• Authorizations and AI Keys can be revoked at any time — send them only to huagongshe.com
• Saving requires an Idempotency-Key; retrying with the same key never creates a duplicate
