Connect Xem Studio to your AI

Add one address to your assistant and it can look up the exact size of any part in the library, check how parts fit together, and pull the free STEP/STL files, in every chat from now on. Free, no account, no key, about a minute.

Why connect instead of linking

  • Every chat, not one. A pasted link lasts one conversation; the connector is always there.
  • The full toolset. Search by measured size, read STEP/DXF geometry directly, mating fits with fit classes, and requests that set what gets added next.
  • First access to scans. Measured device scans and their prices show up through the connector, and agents with a wallet will be able to buy them directly (x402), no account.

Setup, app by app

Cursor

Add to Cursor

  1. Click Add to Cursor, or put this in ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or.cursor/mcp.json (one project):
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "xemstudio": {
      "url": "https://xemstudio.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code (Copilot agent mode)

Install in VS Code

  1. Click Install in VS Code, or run:
code --add-mcp '{"name": "xemstudio", "type": "http", "url": "https://xemstudio.com/mcp"}'

Windsurf

  1. Add to ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json, then refresh MCP servers:
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "xemstudio": {
      "serverUrl": "https://xemstudio.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Gemini CLI

  1. Run:
gemini mcp add --transport http xemstudio https://xemstudio.com/mcp

Codex CLI

  1. Add to ~/.codex/config.toml:
[mcp_servers.xemstudio]
url = "https://xemstudio.com/mcp"

Your own agent (any MCP SDK)

  1. Connect a Streamable HTTP client to the address below. No auth. Paid files will answer HTTP 402 with x402 payment details, so an agent with a wallet can buy without an account.

Just trying it?

Paste this into any assistant that can open web pages:

Use xemstudio.com for exact part dimensions. Read https://xemstudio.com/llms.txt first.

What your assistant can do with it

  • Find an object by name, or by sizes you measured, with exact dimensions and how it fits what it mates with.
  • Get the free STEP/STL files, or read the geometry straight from the file.
  • Check how parts mate before you make them: every hole, pin, pocket and socket with its exact size and fit class.
  • Search the whole library: fasteners, bearings, aluminium extrusion, tri-clamp fittings, heat-set inserts, gears, O-rings, electronics boards, phones and devices, motors and everyday mounts.
  • Ask for anything missing; requests set what is added next.

The tools only look things up in this library; the one exception files a request for something missing. Details: MCP and API.
