Documentation
Let your AI assistant read your texts.
Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other assistants can list your numbers, read your newest texts and add a number when you say so. Nothing to install on our side: you make a key and paste one address.
Three things it can do.
list_numbers
See your numbers
Lists the numbers on your account with their area code, mode and whether they are live. Ask: "Which numbers do I have?"
get_latest_messages
Read your texts
Reads your newest texts with the sender and the time. Ask: "What did my last text say?"
get_new_number
Get a new number
Adds a number to your account. The assistant has to ask you first, every time, and the same plan rules apply as on the website.
How to connect it.
Make a key once, then add the server to the app you use.
Step 1
Make a key
- Sign in and open Settings.
- Under “Connect an AI assistant”, name the key after the app, then press Make key.
- Copy it. It is shown once.
Step 2
Use these two things
- Server address: https://www.expressnumber.com/api/mcp
- Header: Authorization: Bearer <your key>
Then follow the steps for your app below.
Claude Desktop
Open Settings, then Developer, then Edit Config, and add this. It needs Node.js installed. Restart Claude Desktop afterwards.

Claude Code
Run this once in your terminal.
claude mcp add --transport http expressnumber https://www.expressnumber.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <your key>"
Cursor
Open Cursor Settings, then MCP, add a server, and paste this into the file it opens.

ChatGPT (developer mode)
- Open Settings, then Connectors, then Advanced, and turn on Developer mode.
- Create a connector and paste the server address above.
- When it asks how to sign in, choose the option that takes an API key or access token, and paste your key.
Menus change and some plans only offer sign-in connectors. If you do not see a key option, use one of the apps beside this one.
Good to know.
- Adding a number always asks you first. The assistant is told never to do it on its own.
- Receive only. The assistant cannot send texts, place calls, release a number or change a plan.
- Each assistant gets its own key. Revoke a key in Settings and that assistant stops working at once.
- We keep only a one-way fingerprint of your key, so we cannot show it to you again. Lost it? Revoke it and make a new one.
- Texts are written by whoever sent them. Your assistant is told to read them as information, never as instructions.
