Documentation
Connect uibrik's MCP server so your AI assistant can search components, read their props and source, and install them.
Updated
Overview
uibrik runs its own MCP server. Connect it once and your AI assistant can search the library, read any component's props and source, and install it with the right command for your project.
https://uibrik.com/mcp
It's a remote server over HTTP: nothing to install or run locally, and it always serves the latest components. No account or key needed.
Connect
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http uibrik https://uibrik.com/mcp
Cursor
{
"mcpServers": {
"uibrik": {
"url": "https://uibrik.com/mcp"
}
}
}
VS Code
{

"uibrik": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://uibrik.com/mcp"
}
}
}
Other clients
Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP works: add a server with the URL above. In Claude Desktop and claude.ai, add it as a custom connector.
Tools
Every tool is read-only. Installing still happens in your terminal, with your approval.
search_componentsFinds components by what they do, optionally within one category.get_componentInstall commands, npm packages, import line, props and the full source of every file.list_categoriesThe whole catalog by section and category, with slugs.get_install_instructionsProject set-up for Next.js, Vite or a manual copy.
Example prompts
- Find a uibrik pricing block and add it to the pricing page.
- Which uibrik chart fits a 30-day uptime history? Install it on the status page.
- Add the uibrik gauge dial for disk usage on the dashboard, using our theme colours.
With the shadcn MCP
Already use the shadcn MCP server? It reads registries from components.json, so adding the @uibrik namespace lets it browse and install uibrik components next to shadcn's own.
{
"registries": {
"@uibrik": "https://uibrik.com/r/{name}.json"
}
}
npx shadcn@latest mcp init --client claude
The init command also takes cursor, vscode, codex and opencode.
llms.txt
For assistants without MCP, llms.txt lists every component and docs page, and llms-full.txt adds every component's packages, import and props in one file.
Questions
Is the uibrik MCP server free?
Yes. It needs no account or key, and it's a remote server, so there is nothing to install or keep updated.
Which AI assistants can use it?
Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Claude Desktop and claude.ai (as a custom connector), and any other client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP.
Can the MCP server change my files?
No. Every tool is read-only. Your assistant installs a component by running the shadcn CLI in your terminal, with your approval.
Can my agent install Pro components over MCP?
It can find Pro components and read their props. Installing one needs the Pro registry in components.json and your license key in the environment, as set out in the Pro docs.
What if my assistant doesn't support MCP?
Point it at https://uibrik.com/llms.txt, or https://uibrik.com/llms-full.txt for every component's install line, import and props in one file.
