Tabruns is a side panel in Chrome that opens next to the portal. This one-minute video goes from a benefits page to the patient's estimate.

1. Step 1

Open the portal

Pick the patient's insurer in the panel to open its portal. Log in as you do today, open the benefits page and press Read this page. Tabruns never asks for your insurer passwords.

2. Step 2

Pick the treatment

Tap a common service like Crown or Cleaning, or type “crown 30” or a code like D2740. The first time a service comes up, Tabruns asks your fee once.

3. Step 3

Give it to the patient

Copy it into the chart, print a one-page handout, or send the patient a link. The last week's estimates stay on that computer, with no patient names.

Every plan rule, in the order insurers apply it.

Deductibles, yearly maximums, waiting periods, frequency limits, downgrades and your network fees. Every line shows where its number came from, and staff can correct any value.

Send the estimate home with the patient.

Text or email a private link. The patient reads the estimate on their phone and can share it with family. The estimate is carried inside the link, so Tabruns never stores it.

Your fees fill in on their own.

The first time a service comes up, the panel asks your fee once. It asks once whether you're in network with each insurer, and you can import your whole fee schedule. Tabruns picks the right fee for each patient's plan.

Patient details never leave your computer.

Tabruns reads the portal page inside Chrome, only when you press Read this page. Nothing about the patient is sent to Tabruns.

Questions

Which insurance portals does it work with?

Any insurer's portal your office signs in to. The panel opens twelve of the largest, Delta Dental, MetLife and Cigna among them, and you can add your own link for any other. Read this page finds the coverage, yearly maximum, deductible and claims history inside Chrome. If a page can't be read, staff type the plan's coverage, deductible left and yearly maximum left, and the math works the same.

Does Tabruns store patient information?

No. The page is read inside your browser when you press Read this page. Names, birth dates, member IDs and every date stay on your computer and are gone when the panel closes. A patient link carries the estimate inside the link itself, so Tabruns never stores that either.

Do you need our insurer passwords?

No. Staff log in to each portal as themselves, the way they do today. Tabruns only reads the page they have open, when they press the button.

Does it replace our practice management software?

No. It works alongside it, with no software connection. Keep scheduling and billing where they are, and paste the breakdown into the patient's notes in Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental or any web system.

Is the estimate a guarantee?

No. It's an estimate from the plan's rules on the day it's made, and every copy says so. The insurer decides the final amount when the claim is processed. For big treatment, a pre-treatment estimate from the insurer is still a good idea.

Which plans does it handle?

Primary dental plans that pay a percentage of the fee. Plans with a fixed copay per treatment and secondary insurance aren't supported yet.
