How it works
- Install the Ringback app on the Android phone your business number rings on. Setup takes about 15 minutes with the setup guide; nothing about your phone service changes. On an iPhone? Use the Mac helper (beta, texts from your own number) or a spare Android: iPhone guide.
- Miss a call. The caller gets: "Hi, this is Bob at Bob's Plumbing. Sorry I missed your call, I'm probably on a job. Book here: … or reply with the problem and your address and I'll get back to you. If water is leaking now, reply URGENT." (Plumbing, HVAC, electrical and general versions; you can edit them.)
- Urgent ones stand out. If the caller replies URGENT, you get an urgent alert on your phone and by email.
- Win the job. You get an alert, their reply lands in your inbox, and you answer from the dashboard or just call back.
A caller who reaches voicemail may hang up and call the next company instead of leaving a message. Ringback texts them within seconds.

Same-day start: Ringback texts from the SIM in your own phone, so there is no number to port, no new number and no carrier registration to wait for. Services that text from a business number register first: Quo can't text US numbers until its A2P 10DLC registration is approved ("most approvals happen within 24-48 hours; others have remained in pending status for up to 20 days", Quo help center), most ports to Quo take 3–7 business days (Quo), and RingCentral says TCR registration is required for SMS (checked November 1, 2026). Questions
Does it change my number?
No. When Ringback runs on the Android phone your business number already rings on (direct mode), the text goes out from that same number, so customers see your number, not a new one. With an iPhone and the Ringback Mac helper (beta), the text also goes out from your own iPhone number, sent through Messages on your Mac. Only in iPhone relay mode (a spare Android) does the text come from a different number.
How fast is the text?
Usually within seconds of the call ending. The dashboard shows your average time and the 95th-percentile time.
What phone do I need?
Ringback works on an Android phone (Android 8 or newer) your business line rings on, or with an iPhone. iPhones don't let apps send texts automatically, so Ringback can't run on the iPhone itself. Instead, either install the Ringback Mac helper (beta) on a Mac signed in to the same Apple Account: it sees the iPhone's missed calls and texts back from the iPhone's own number through Messages, as long as the Mac stays on. Or forward unanswered calls from the iPhone line to a spare Android running Ringback (relay mode), and the text comes from the spare phone's number. What if someone doesn't want texts?
Every first text tells them to reply STOP. If they do, they get a confirmation and Ringback never texts them again. START turns it back on.
Will it text my mom when I miss her call?
Not if she's on your "never text" list, and it never texts your own numbers, emergency numbers, short codes or toll-free numbers. It also texts the same caller at most once every 2 hours.
Is there a setup fee or a contract?
No setup fee and no contract. 7-day free trial, no card to start, then it's $17/month or $170/year. Add PayPal only if you want to keep it after the trial; if you don't, texting pauses when the trial ends and nothing is charged. If you would rather we set it up for you, done-for-you setup is an optional one-time $39.
How soon can it start texting?

Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel in PayPal whenever you like. Texting stops, and your data is kept for 90 days in case you come back.
