Documentation

Use Foodie in ChatGPT and Claude

Foodie now has an MCP server. Connect it to your own ChatGPT or Claude, and your AI can use your Foodie recipes, your weekly meal plan and your family shopping list. Your own AI does the thinking. Foodie does not charge for that.

ChatGPT and Claude: questions

What is the Foodie MCP server?

It is a connection that lets your own ChatGPT or Claude use your Foodie recipes, weekly meal plan and shopping list. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI apps to other apps.

Do I pay extra to use Foodie in ChatGPT or Claude?

Foodie does not charge for the AI. Your own AI app does the thinking, under your own plan with OpenAI or Anthropic. Free Foodie accounts get 50 MCP calls per day. Foodie Premium has no daily limit.

Why can't I sign in?

Sign in to the Foodie app once first. Accounts are created in the app only. Then use Continue with Apple with the same Apple ID in your AI app.

Does it work with the free ChatGPT plan?

No. Custom connectors in ChatGPT need a paid plan (Plus or higher) and developer mode. Claude's free plan allows one custom connector.

Can my family see the changes?

Yes. Changes appear in the Foodie app at once, for everyone in your household.

How do I disconnect an AI app?

In the Foodie app, open Settings, then ChatGPT & Claude. Tap Disconnect next to the app. It takes effect at once.

Does Foodie send my data to OpenAI or Anthropic?

Not on its own. Foodie shares data with an AI app only after you sign in and approve it. After that, the AI app handles the data under its own provider's privacy terms.
