Questions
Is afk.ai free?+
It's free to try: rigging your model and previewing every animation on it cost nothing. You sign in with your Google account.
Do I have to place the skeleton myself?+
No. Tell it what the model is (humanoid, four-legged, dragon and so on) and an AI model places the joints and skin weights for you, right in your browser.
What can it rig?+
Humans and humanoids, four-legged animals, horses, birds, dragons, kaiju, spiders, flying insects, snakes, fish, kangaroos, frogs, ghosts and objects. Each has its own skeleton and animation set.
Which file formats work?+
Upload GLB, FBX, glTF (with its.bin and textures), OBJ (with its.mtl and textures), STL, PLY, DAE, USDZ or VRM, or a ZIP or folder with one of those in it. Anything other than GLB or FBX is converted to GLB for you in your browser. You get a GLB with the skeleton and every animation, ready for Unity, Unreal, Godot, Blender and Three.js.
Can I use the animations in commercial projects?+
Yes. The skeleton templates and animation library are CC0 (public domain), so you can use them in commercial games and videos without attribution.
What do I need to run it?+
A desktop or laptop with a graphics card, in Chrome or Edge. The first rig downloads the 1.1 GB AI model once; after that it starts right away. Phones and tablets aren't supported yet.
Does my model get uploaded anywhere?+
Your model is sent to our servers only to check and rig it. We don't keep it afterwards, and never sell or share it. Your rigged models are saved in your browser for your Uploaded Models page. See our privacy policy for more.
