Cardboard AI

official

Edit videos by chatting with Claude or ChatGPT: bring in your footage, ask for cuts, captions and titles, then export.

What can you do with Cardboard AI MCP?

  • Import footage — Ask the assistant to upload video clips and photos from your computer or phone, or bring in a video from a link.
  • Edit clips — Have the assistant cut, trim, and reorder clips in your project.
  • Add titles and adjust color — Request titles or changes to the look of your footage, such as its color.
  • Preview edits in chat — Watch each edit play in a player inside the chat before committing to it.
  • Export as MP4 — Have the assistant export the finished video as a 1080p MP4 you can download.
  • Resume saved projects — Return to a project in a later chat, since projects are saved to your Cardboard account.

Documentation

Cardboard is a video editor you use by chatting with Claude or ChatGPT. You bring in your footage, say what you want in plain words, and every edit plays in the chat. When it looks right, the assistant exports the video for you to download.

Get started in a minute

Cardboard is an MCP server: the standard way Claude and ChatGPT connect to other apps. Add it to the one you use.

What you can do

  • Upload video clips and photos from your computer or phone, or bring in a video from a link.
  • Cut, trim and reorder clips.
  • Add titles.
  • Change the look of your footage, such as its color.
  • Watch every edit play in a player in the chat.
  • Export the finished video as a 1080p MP4.
  • Come back to a project in a later chat: projects are saved to your Cardboard account.

What you can do also depends on your Cardboard plan. See plans and pricing.

Cloud editing time

Cardboard edits your projects on a cloud computer of your own. It wakes when the assistant asks for something and goes to sleep after 5 minutes without work; an export or preview keeps it awake while it runs. While it’s awake it uses your plan’s usage credits, about 3 an hour; asleep, it uses none.

How it works

The assistant signs in to your Cardboard account and calls Cardboard’s tools when you ask for an edit. Cardboard does the work in its cloud, on your projects, and shows the result in a player in the chat. The assistant never gets your Cardboard password, and Cardboard never sees your conversation, only the tool calls the assistant makes.
