1. There is no API key. The response is HTTP 402. The PAYMENT-REQUIRED header and the JSON body both carry the x402 payment terms.
2. Pay the quoted amount in USDC on Base: $0.01 for an email, $0.02 for a phone.
3. Retry the same request with a PAYMENT-SIGNATURE header. HTTP 200 is the verification result. A failed check is not settled.
