What is MCP?

MCP connects an agent to Ohmbo's hardware services. The agent is a convenient entry point; ohmbo.com remains the full product workspace for visual inspection, project continuity, account controls, quotes and released deliverables.

Brief + architecture

Capture product requirements, constraints and a reviewable technical direction before detailed design.

Electronics + firmware

Develop circuits, PCB layout and routing alongside revision-bound firmware work.

Simulation + structure

Run available validation and simulation work, and develop 3D enclosure or product structure in the same project.

Prototype + validation

Move reviewed work toward sourcing, fabrication, assembly, bring-up and measured validation with explicit project records.

Authentication

Ohmbo plugins and OAuth-capable MCP clients open the Ohmbo website for sign-in and consent. The resulting access belongs to that website account, so agent-created jobs appear in the same private workspace. You never paste an account owner ID into the client.

1. 01 Add the Ohmbo plugin or the hosted MCP endpoint to your agent.
2. 02 Follow the browser prompt to sign in to Ohmbo and approve project access.
3. 03 Start work in the agent, then open Agent designs on ohmbo.com to inspect status and results in the full UI.

Manual API keys

For clients that use a manually configured key, follow the Developer API guide and manage keys in account settings. OAuth tokens and API keys can both be sent as Bearer credentials; website sign-in does not require copying an API key.

Available tools

The first plugin release exposes the existing asynchronous design workflow through these core tools:

Tool	What it does
create_design	Start a new board design from a plain-language description
get_job_status	Check the status of a design job (queued, running, done, failed, cancelled)
get_design_artifacts	Retrieve design artifacts for an authorized order; downloadable files require payment confirmation and order release
revise_design	Ask for design modifications in plain language

The MCP service also provides job listing, cancellation and capability discovery. Available outputs depend on job status, account access, review and release state.

How jobs work

Hardware jobs run asynchronously. The agent can follow progress, while the website provides the complete visual record and released outputs. Completed generation does not by itself mean engineer approval, physical testing or manufacturing release.
