Troubleshooting

The sign-in window does not open

Your browser blocked the pop-up. Allow pop-ups for chatgpt.com or claude.ai and click Connect again. Sign-in always happens on a docstox.com page; if you see anything else, stop.

"This connection was revoked" or a 401 error

The app or key was revoked at /mcp/keys. For an app, disconnect DocStoX in the client and connect again (in Claude Code: /mcp, Clear authentication, then Authenticate). For a key, create a new one and replace it in your config. A 401 also appears if the header is missing its Bearer prefix or the key does not start with dox-.

"DocStoX MCP quota exceeded"

You reached your daily or 30-day allowance. The daily count resets at 00:00 UTC (05:30 IST). See exactly what was used at /mcp/keys, or raise the limit with Pro.

A tool answers with a Pro explanation instead of data

That tool is part of DocStoX Pro. The call is not counted against your allowance. The pricing page lists what Pro includes.

The tools do not show up

Check the URL is exactly https://mcp.docstox.com/mcp (with /mcp at the end), then restart or reload the client. Most clients have a /mcp command or an MCP settings list that shows whether DocStoX connected.

Questions

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets an AI assistant call tools on another service. Connecting DocStoX gives your assistant tools that read Indian market data, so its answers use real numbers instead of memory.

Can it place trades or change my account?

No. Every tool only reads data. DocStoX cannot place orders, move money, or edit your portfolio or watchlist through MCP.

Which markets does it cover?

Stocks listed on the NSE and BSE: 5,700+ instruments, with index options, flows, IPOs and news. US and other markets are not covered.

Do I need a DocStoX account?

Yes. A free account is enough. If you do not have one, the DocStoX sign-in screen your AI app opens lets you create one with Google or your email.

Does it cost anything?

Free accounts get 50 tool calls a day and 1,000 per rolling 30 days. Pro raises that to 5,000 a day and adds the research tools. Your AI app's own plan is separate.

Is the data investment advice?

No. DocStoX provides data and research for information. Decisions are yours; consider a SEBI-registered adviser for advice.
