Read the rankings from code

The JSON API and the MCP server are free and read-only. Rankings are never paid. They are built from the same directory data as the pages, so a score on https://stackpick.app/v1/tools.json is the score on the category page.

Rankings as of Oct 19, 2026. API version 1. Initial editorial estimate. Not a measured benchmark. Affiliate links may be used to monetize, but they never affect scores or rankings, and rankings are never sponsored.

No API key. GET requests send Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * so a browser or an agent can read them.

JSON API

Every response includes version, asOf (the rankings date), and disclaimer. Tool rank is the place on that job’s list. Affiliate links are not in the payload.

GET	/v1/categories.json	Every job, with tool slugs in rank order.
GET	/v1/tools/cursor.json	One tool. Replace cursor with any tool slug.
GET	/v1/releases.json	Release notes, newest first. Same records as the changelog.

MCP server

Streamable HTTP, stateless, no auth. Point a client at https://stackpick.app/mcp. The server only reads. It cannot change a score, a rank, or a listing.

list_categories — Jobs and the ranked tool slugs in each.
get_best_tools — category — ranked tools for that job.
get_tool — slug — one tool, including its category rank and score.
compare_tools — slugs — two or more tools, side by side.
search_tools — query — same matching as the site search. Optional limit.
latest_releases — Optional limit. Newest release notes.

The server name for a domain-verified listing is app.stackpick/directory. The registry document is /.well-known/mcp/server.json. It points at https://stackpick.app/mcp.
