Can ChatGPT or Claude do social listening?

Not on their own: a model cannot watch sixteen platforms every hour. Connected to Mentio's MCP server it can. Claude, Cursor, Codex and any MCP client get tools to search, filter and triage mentions, so the agent works from real posts rather than guesses.

Is there a free social listening tool for developers?

What is social listening?

Tracking what people say about your brand across public platforms, so you can answer questions, catch complaints and spot buying signals while the conversation is still live. Mentio does it for the places developers talk.

What platforms does Mentio monitor?

Sixteen: X, Reddit, Hacker News, GitHub, Bluesky, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, Stack Overflow, DEV, YouTube and news, plus reviews: any app on the App Store and Google Play, any company on Trustpilot and any place on Google. We cover fewer sources than the big suites and go deeper on the ones developers actually use.

How fast do mentions arrive?

Bluesky in seconds, over the firehose. GitHub every fifteen minutes, news every fifteen, Reddit every thirty, Hacker News, DEV, Stack Overflow and X hourly, LinkedIn and TikTok every three hours, Instagram every six (a quiet Instagram keyword slows to about once a day), YouTube twice a day. Those are the real polling intervals, not marketing numbers.

How does the AI relevance score work?

Every mention is scored 0 to 100 for relevance against your company context, then tagged with sentiment and an intent: buy intent, question, complaint, praise or comparison. You choose the threshold that reaches Slack or your webhook.

Can I track competitor mentions?

Yes. Track competitor names as keywords alongside your own. Mentions tagged as comparisons are usually people explaining exactly why they are considering a switch.

Do you have an API?
