Connect an assistant

The MCP server speaks Streamable HTTP at https://open-factory.com/mcp. No key is needed for the free tools; add one as a bearer header to identify your app and, later, to unlock paid rows. Twelve read-only tools: search and read articles, index headlines, lead times by class, bid-tab price bands, tariff rates by HTS line and origin, large-load interconnection terms, book-to-bill by OEM, the disclosure scorecard, the Record, the CSV catalog and the calculator source tables.

Every response is an envelope: as_of (the newest dated source or data point), source (documents with URLs), generated_at, license, attribution, then the payload. Dates are ISO 8601. Money is in the unit named in the row. Nothing is estimated where a published figure exists; where a source did not publish, the field says so rather than guessing.

The free layer is exactly what the site publishes free. Pro is $40 a month and carries the class detail and full articles. Institutional seats carry the rows, the history and the API itself; talk to us. Paid keys are issued on purchase and work on both the API and the MCP server.

Free keys identify your application so we can tell you before a format changes. They do not unlock paid data and are not required for free endpoints. One key per email; it is shown once, here, and is not emailed.

Terms, cadence, citation

Data is CC BY 4.0: reuse it with attribution to Open Factory and a link to the article or model page. Article text past the paywall and paid rows are licensed to the subscriber and not for redistribution. Nothing here is investment, legal, tax or customs advice; verify a figure against the cited document before relying on it. The methodology page says how each number is sourced and versioned; the Record scores our calls.

Refresh follows the sources. Lead times move monthly after the OEM guides and the Census M3 release; bid-tab bands are recomputed quarterly as awards accrue; book-to-bill after each earnings season; the tariff and large-load tables when a proclamation, docket or tariff sheet changes. The as_of field is the contract: it is the newest dated source in the response, never the build date.

Breaking changes get a new version prefix. Format questions, bug reports and requests for a paid dataset to [email protected]. Also published: /llms.txt, /llms-full.txt, /rss.xml and the CSV catalog.
