list_categories	Every category with its tool count and page link.
best_for_task	Describe a task in plain words and get the most relevant tools, with optional pricing, open-source and runs_locally filters.

Keep data on your side: Optional runs_locally filter on search_tools and best_for_task: offline (runs fully on your own machine), self_hosted_or_offline (also tools you can deploy on your own server) or any. Each result has a data_locality label inferred from its listing; verify with the vendor before relying on it for compliance.

Limits and data

Read-only: the server can only look things up, it cannot change anything. Up to 60 requests per minute per IP address. Data comes from the same catalog as the site (api/tools.json) and refreshes within about 10 minutes of each site update. Usage is counted anonymously: only the day, the tool used, the type of app and whether it was a public or test request. No IP addresses, search text or arguments are stored (see our privacy policy).
