MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude securely access external data and tools. onvela exposes its CRM as an MCP server – with around 50 tools for contacts, organizations, groups, notes, tasks, activities and tags.

Instead of navigating menus, you describe what you need – your assistant does it directly in onvela. Some responses even render as interactive MCP apps with their own UI rather than plain text.

Sign in once with your onvela account and approve access. Authentication runs over OAuth 2.1 with Dynamic Client Registration – no API keys to copy.

What is the onvela MCP server?

The onvela MCP server exposes your onvela CRM via the Model Context Protocol (MCP). AI clients such as Claude or Cursor can read and edit contacts, organizations, notes and tasks through it. The endpoint is https://onvela.app/mcp.

Which clients are supported?

Any MCP-capable client – including Claude Desktop, Claude on the web, Cursor and OpenAI Codex. Because MCP is an open standard, onvela also works with future MCP clients without changes.

How secure is access?

Access happens only after your explicit consent via OAuth 2.1 with Dynamic Client Registration. No long-lived API keys are copied, and you can revoke access at any time. Hosting and data processing take place in the EU.

Does the MCP connection cost extra?

No. The MCP server is part of onvela and included in every account. You only need an onvela account to connect.

What are interactive MCP apps?

Some onvela tools return an interactive UI instead of plain text – for example a sortable list of your hottest or neglected contacts. These MCP apps render directly in your client's chat.

Do I need programming skills?

No. You enter the endpoint in your client once and sign in via OAuth. After that you work in natural language – no code and no API configuration required.
