Runs up to 20 agents at once

Each agent gets its own named, coloured tab group in one Chrome.

The scenes are drawn; the prompts are real ones you can paste. It is strongest where you’re signed in and there is no API. CAPTCHAs and bot checks can still stop it: what it can and can’t get past.

How it works

Your computer · 127.0.0.1

  1. Your agent Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, VS Code, Windsurf
  2. A small local server Your agent starts it
  3. The Chrome extension Talks to that server over a local port
  4. Your Chrome Claude 1 Claude 2

It asks you

A prompt in its tab when it needs a code or a decision.

Only its own tabs

It can’t read or close a tab you opened.

Install

Two halves: the Chrome extension and a local server. You need both, and Node.js 20 or newer.

Install it on your computer. Chrome extensions don’t run on phones.

Questions

I installed the extension from the Chrome Web Store and it says “not connected”. What now?

That is normal: the store gives you only half of it. Paste claude mcp add --scope user browser-mcp -- npx @agent360/browser-mcp@latest in a terminal and restart Claude Code. The badge turns green the first time your agent uses the browser.

What is Browser MCP?

A free, open-source Chrome extension plus a small local MCP server. It lets Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or VS Code work in the Chrome you are already signed into, so your logins, cookies and 2FA work as they do for you.

How is this different from Playwright MCP?

Playwright MCP is a fine tool, and its extension can also use your real Chrome. What it has no tool for is stopping to ask you. Browser MCP has browser_ask_user: a prompt in the tab for a code or a choice.

Is my data safe? What does the extension see?

Nothing is sent to Agent360; there is no server of ours. The extension talks to a local server on 127.0.0.1. What your agent reads goes to your AI client and its model provider. Details on the privacy page; the source is on GitHub.

Why does it need so many permissions?

It drives Chrome for you: tabs and scripting to open pages and click, the debugger for real input on strict sites, cookies for the cookie tools, and all URLs so it can open what you ask for. Every permission, explained.

Does it work with anything other than Claude Code?

Yes. It is a standard local MCP server, so Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Windsurf, Cline, Continue and others can use it. The install guides have the exact config for each client.

How does CAPTCHA assistance actually work?

It detects the CAPTCHA and can tick a reCAPTCHA checkbox, then check again. If a challenge is left, your agent can read the images itself or ask you to solve it. What it can and cannot get past.

Is it really free? What's the catch?

Yes. MIT-licensed, no account, no paid tier. Agent360 builds and maintains it, and bug reports and pull requests are welcome.

How do I uninstall it?

Remove the extension in chrome://extensions, run claude mcp remove --scope user browser-mcp (or delete the block in your client’s config), and delete ~/.browser-mcp/. Full details and permissions.

Install it in two steps.

1 · Add to Chrome, free

2 · Then paste this and restart your agent:

claude mcp add --scope user browser-mcp -- npx @agent360/browser-mcp@latest

Install it on your computer. Chrome extensions don’t run on phones.
