Ask the catalog from your agent
A free, read-only remote MCP server over the same data as this site: 43 MCP servers and Agent Skills, organized by dev task, each with a practical verdict. Your agent can ask “which MCP server should I use for Postgres?” and get the answer with install command, credentials and source links.
- Endpoint:
https://agenttaskatlas.com/api/mcp - Transport: Streamable HTTP (stateless, JSON responses). No account, no API key, no auth.
- Read-only: it only reads the public catalog; it cannot write anything, and it never asks for or stores secrets.
- Published in the Official MCP Registry as
com.agenttaskatlas/catalog.
Setup
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http agenttask-atlas https://agenttaskatlas.com/api/mcp
Cursor (~/.cursor/mcp.json or.cursor/mcp.json)
{
"mcpServers": {
"agenttask-atlas": {
"url": "https://agenttaskatlas.com/api/mcp"
}
}
}
VS Code (.vscode/mcp.json)
{
"servers": {
"agenttask-atlas": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://agenttaskatlas.com/api/mcp"
}
}
}
Clients that only support local (stdio) servers
Bridge it with the community mcp-remote package:
{
"mcpServers": {
"agenttask-atlas": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"mcp-remote",
"https://agenttaskatlas.com/api/mcp"
]
}
}
}
Step-by-step setup for each client, with the catalog entries that document it: Claude Code · Cursor · VS Code · Claude Desktop. The catalog itself is also open data on GitHub (CC BY 4.0).
Tools
search_catalog(query, category?, limit?)
Find entries for a task. Every query term must match the name, vendor, verdict or category. category is a slug from list_categories.
get_entry(slug)
Full card for one entry: verdict, install, credentials, permissions, license, source URL and maintenance status.
list_categories()
All 21 categories (dev tasks and entry types) with counts.
Try it with curl
curl -s https://agenttaskatlas.com/api/mcp \
-H 'content-type: application/json' -H 'accept: application/json, text/event-stream' \
-d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"search_catalog","arguments":{"query":"postgres"}}}'
Same caveat as the site: entries summarize official sources; nothing is hands-on tested and there is no independent security audit. Always confirm at the source before installing.
