Ask ChatGPT or Claude about the weather on your route.

Name the places and when you're leaving. Ask what changes if you leave later, or about a highway on its own.

  • “What's the weather on my drive from Denver to Moab on Saturday at 8am?”
  • “Will I hit snow driving Seattle to Spokane tomorrow morning?”
  • “How's the weather on I-80 across Wyoming today?”
  • “Seattle to Miami next week, about nine hours a day. What should I expect?”

Route weather for the whole drive, not just both ends.

The same forecast the app gives you, written up by your assistant in its own words.

  1. 01

Every stretch, when you reach it

The forecast for each part of the route at your arrival time there, not just at the start and the end.
  2. 02

    The worst stretch first

Where and when the road gets hardest, in plain words: calm, mild, caution, hazard or extreme.
  3. 03

    Official alerts

National Weather Service warnings along the way, shown as theirs and never mixed into our forecast.
  4. 04

    Live traffic

For drives leaving within an hour: congestion, incidents and closures on your route.
  5. 05

    Your drive in the app

A link that opens the same drive in Windshield Weather, where it keeps updating on the road.

The chat answers once. The app rides along.

Every answer has a link that opens the same drive in Windshield Weather, on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android.

01What is the Windshield Weather MCP server?

An MCP server that ChatGPT, Claude and other assistants call to forecast the weather along a drive: every stretch of the route, for the time you reach it. MCP is the Model Context Protocol, the open standard assistants use to call tools.

02How do I check the weather on my route in ChatGPT or Claude?

Once its listing is approved, add Windshield Weather from the host’s directory, then ask where you are starting, where you are going and when you leave. Other MCP clients can use the server address on this page after launch.

03Can it show highway weather?

Yes. Ask about a named highway, such as I-80 across Wyoming, to see its weather by stretch now and over the next day, with the road-conditions service for each state. These forecasts do not certify road closures.

04Is it free? Do I need an account?

Public forecasts are free and need no account. Continuing in the app or browser uses your Windshield Weather account. This version does not read or change saved drives or accounts.

05Which assistants does it work with?

ChatGPT and Claude, on the web, desktop and phone, and other clients that speak MCP over HTTP, such as Claude Code or an IDE, using the server address on this page. Directory listings are coming soon.

06Is this an official weather warning?

No. The answer is a forecast of what to expect on the road. Official alerts from the National Weather Service are shown alongside it, labelled as theirs. Use it to plan before departure; follow official warnings, road authorities and conditions on the road.

07What do you keep from my conversation?

Nothing that identifies you or the drive. We count how often the tools are used and how it went, never place names or what you said. We do not retain tool inputs or geocodes. A trip link carries encrypted named endpoints, departure time and units.

08How is it different from the app?

The assistant answers once. The app keeps the forecast updating on the road, shows radar on the map, reads you a briefing, and works in CarPlay and Android Auto. Every answer has a link that opens the same drive in the app.
