Addy MCP Server Docs: Setup for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor
Connect Addy to ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or any MCP app with one URL. Ask for an ad and Addy writes, renders and posts a 9:16 video to Reels, TikTok and Shorts.
Canonical: https://use-addy.site/developers/mcp
Paste one line into your AI agent. It connects itself to Addy; you click Allow once. Then ask for an ad and Addy writes it, renders it and posts it.
Connect Addy to yourself by following https://use-addy.site/agents, then make me a video ad for my product.
Or add the server URL yourself: https://use-addy.site/mcp
How connecting works
The prompt points your agent at https://use-addy.site/agents, a page written for AI agents. Coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, VS Code) run the one command for themselves. Chat apps (ChatGPT, Claude) tell you the three clicks to add the connector. Either way you sign in to Addy and click Allow once; there are no keys to copy.
Set it up by hand
ChatGPT
- Open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
- Back in Apps & Connectors, click Create. Name it Addy, paste the URL, keep Authentication on OAuth.
- Sign in to Addy and click Allow.
- In a new chat, open + → Developer mode, turn on Addy and ask for an ad.
Custom connectors are available on ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu.
Claude
- On claude.ai or Claude Desktop, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- Name it Addy and paste the URL. Click Add, then Connect.
- Sign in to Addy and click Allow.
- In any chat, ask Claude to make an Addy ad. Tools show up under the + menu.
Claude Code
- Add the server, then run /mcp inside Claude Code and choose Addy → Authenticate.
Terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http addy https://use-addy.site/mcp
Codex
- Add the server and sign in once from the terminal. Works in the Codex CLI, IDE extension and app.
Terminal:
codex mcp add addy --url https://use-addy.site/mcp
codex mcp login addy
Cursor
- Click Add to Cursor, or paste this into ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Cursor opens the Addy sign-in the first time a tool runs.
~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"addy": {
"url": "https://use-addy.site/mcp"
}
}
}
VS Code
- Click Install in VS Code (Copilot agent mode), or run the command below. Sign in when prompted.
Terminal:
code --add-mcp '{"name":"addy","type":"http","url":"https://use-addy.site/mcp"}'
Gemini CLI
- Add the server, then run /mcp auth addy inside Gemini CLI.
Terminal:
gemini mcp add --transport http addy https://use-addy.site/mcp
Anything else
- Any MCP client that supports remote servers: paste the URL. Sign-in (OAuth) starts automatically.
- Windsurf, Zed, Goose, LibreChat, n8n and custom agents all work. For clients that only run local servers, use mcp-remote.
- Headless agents can skip OAuth with a Pro API key: send Authorization: Bearer addy_… to the same URL.
Local-only clients (stdio bridge):
{
"mcpServers": {
"addy": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"mcp-remote",
"https://use-addy.site/mcp"
]
}
}
}
With an API key:
{
"mcpServers": {
"addy": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://use-addy.site/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer addy_••••"
}
}
}
}
Tools

get_ad | { job_id, wait_seconds? } | Waits for the render and returns the video URL, caption and hashtags. |
publish_ad | { ad_id, platforms?, publish_at?, caption? } | Posts or schedules to connected Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and more. Returns a connect link if none are linked. |
write_ad_concepts | { count?, formats?, product_url? } | Free: several hooks and scripts to choose from before spending credits. |
render_concept | { concept_id, quality? } | Renders a concept you picked. |

create_campaign | { name, formats, count? } | Advanced: a campaign of concepts to review in the app. |
For developers
Endpoint https://use-addy.site/mcp (also /api/mcp), Streamable HTTP with JSON responses. OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, dynamic client registration and client ID metadata documents; discovery at /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource and /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server. Server-to-server agents can send a Pro API key as a Bearer token instead.
Questions
Which apps work?
ChatGPT (developer mode connectors), Claude on web, desktop and mobile, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, Zed, Goose and anything else that speaks MCP over HTTP. Local-only clients can use mcp-remote.
Do I need a paid plan?
No. Connecting is free on every plan, including the trial. Every ad is 15 seconds and uses 105 credits (HD is twice that); the trial covers one free ad.
Will my assistant spend credits or post without asking?
Only when it calls create_ad, render_concept or publish_ad. ChatGPT and Claude ask you to approve tool calls; keep that on if you want to confirm each one. Addy's instructions tell assistants never to publish unless you ask.
How do I disconnect an app?
Remove the connector in your AI app, or disconnect it in Addy under API & MCP. Its access ends immediately.
Which workspace does it use?
The workspace you had selected when you clicked Allow. To use another, switch workspaces in Addy and connect again.
