What it answers
Each answer names its dataset and ends with the page to cite.
| Tool | What it returns | Try asking |
|---|---|---|
Radioactive decay radioactive_decay | Calculate parent and daughter activities using NuDat 3 half-lives and branching. | “What activity does Tc-99m reach after 24 hours from Mo-99?” |
Point-source gamma collision air-kerma rate gamma_dose_rate | Compute a point-source air-kerma rate constant from listed NNDC photon lines and NIST air energy-absorption coefficients, with resolved LNHB photon supplements. | “What is the air-kerma rate at 1 m from 1 MBq of Co-60?” |
Accelerator power and synchrotron loss synchrotron_loss | Calculate dipole synchrotron energy loss per turn, radiated power per beam and critical photon energy in an isomagnetic ring. | “How much synchrotron energy do 7 TeV LHC protons lose per turn at a bending radius of 2804 m and a current of 580 mA?” |
Radiation units converter convert_radiation_units | Convert a radiation value between units of the same quantity. | “How many GBq are in one Ci?” |
Photon attenuation photon_attenuation | Narrow-beam photon attenuation from NIST XCOM. | “How much does 10 mm of lead attenuate 662 keV photons?” |
Charged-particle energy loss energy_loss | Bethe and Landau thin-absorber estimates and a CSDA range for a heavy charged particle. | “How much energy does a 100 MeV proton lose in 300 micrometres of silicon?” |
Material properties material_properties | Density, Z/A, mean excitation energy, radiation length, nuclear interaction and collision lengths, electron critical energy, Moliere radius and available melting and boiling points for 17 materials. | “What are the radiation length in g/cm2 and cm and the electron critical energy of silicon?” |
Silicon and germanium detector signal detector_signal | Most probable and mean electron-hole pairs, collected charge, energy deposit and Landau FWHM. | “What signal does a 3 GeV/c muon produce in 300 micrometres of silicon?” |
The citation rule
Every answer ends with the ScienceShot page it came from and names the reference dataset behind the numbers. When you use a figure, cite that dataset and link the page. Answers are computed, not recalled: the same inputs give the same numbers as the tool on the page.
Limits
- Read-only. It computes and returns values; it stores nothing and needs no account.
- Fair use. Assistants call from shared servers, so a busy hour can slow answers.
Batch runs, PDF reports and CSV export are planned: What Pro will include.
