Connect your AI to social data

Why MCP

Social listening where you already work

Octolens MCP connects your mentions, analytics, and workspace settings to Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, and any MCP-compatible tool — no context-switching, no exports.

Your data, in natural language

Skip the dashboard tab. Ask for mentions by platform, sentiment, or keyword — or have your assistant run SQL analytics for trends and share-of-voice — right where you already work.

One-click OAuth, zero keys

Connect the server and sign in via the browser on first use. No API key to create, paste into configs, or rotate — and no platform credentials to manage, ever.

Read and write

9 of the 23 tools manage your workspace: add and tune keywords, build feeds, and wire Slack, email, or webhook alerts — all from a conversation.

MCP for chat, REST for code

MCP is built for interactive AI workflows. For scripts, backend jobs, and pipelines, the same data is available via our social listening API.

Great product! Super useful if you want to know what your customers/competitors are talking about your product. You could do this manually but the amount of time/brain cycles you save from this product is definitely worth it 👍

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about the Octolens MCP server

What is MCP (Model Context Protocol)?

MCP is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to external tools and data sources. It lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other AI tools access your Octolens data directly — you ask questions in natural language, and your assistant calls the Octolens MCP server on your behalf. Learn more at modelcontextprotocol.io

Which AI tools work with the Octolens MCP server?

Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Claude Web, ChatGPT (via Developer Mode apps), and Cursor — plus any other client that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth. The server URL is https://app.octolens.com/api/mcp/v2.

Do I need an API key?

No. Octolens MCP v2 uses OAuth: you add the server URL to your AI tool, and on first use it opens a browser tab where you sign in to your Octolens account. There is no key to create, paste into config files, or rotate.

Can my AI assistant change things in my workspace?

Yes, if you ask it to. 9 of the 23 tools are write operations: adding, updating, pausing, or deleting keywords, accepting or rejecting keyword suggestions, and creating or managing feeds and their Slack, email, or webhook destinations. Reads (mentions, analytics, usage, workspace info) make up the other 14 tools. Your assistant only acts within the workspace you signed into.

How is MCP different from the Octolens REST API?

MCP is a conversational interface for interactive AI workflows — you or your agent ask in natural language. The REST API is for programmatic access: scripts, backend jobs, and standalone HTTP clients. Both expose the same data. If you're building automation, use the API; if you're working inside an AI tool, use MCP.

What data does the MCP server have access to?

The social listening data in the workspace you sign into: mentions with sentiment and relevance scores, SQL analytics over that data, your keywords and feeds, tags, usage against plan limits, and the workspace's company profile and global filters. It does not have access to billing details or other workspaces.

Which plans include MCP access?

All of them. MCP, API, and webhooks are available on every Octolens plan, including the free trial. MCP queries read the mentions your plan has already collected, so there's no separate MCP pricing.

How do I disconnect or revoke access?

Remove the Octolens server from your AI tool's MCP settings (or delete the connector), and the tool can no longer reach your data. Because access is tied to your Octolens sign-in rather than a long-lived API key, there's no key to hunt down and revoke.
