DEMO Country MCP Server

A modular MCP server exposing tools for country and state lookups. Ready for use as a CLI or plug-in agent.

Quick Start

  1. Clone and set up your environment

    git clone <REPO_URL> cd mcp-server

  2. Build the package

    python -m build

  3. Install globally with pipx

    pipx install dist/country_mcp_server-*.whl --force

  4. Run the server

    country-mcp-server

    Or, for development with Inspector UI:

    mcp dev country_server_mcp/main.py

Add Your Own Tools

  • Put new modules in country_server_mcp/tools/.
  • Each module should define a register(mcp) function and add tools using @mcp.tool().
  • Import and call each new tool's register(mcp) in main.py.
  • Rebuild and reinstall with pipx install dist/… --force.

Use as an MCP agent

Add to your orchestrator config:

Notes

  • If you update tools, rebuild and reinstall the package.
  • Make sure your CLI binary is in your PATH (~/.local/bin for pipx by default).
  • For dev mode, editable install: pip install -e .
