Foreclosure help guides
- How to choose the right foreclosure resource for your situation: ForeclosureListings organises resources into five types: sale venues, notice sources, HUD-approved counselors, legal aid and state process pages. Pick the one that matches where you are.
- Common foreclosure mistakes and questions to ask before you act: The most common mistakes people make when facing foreclosure are paying for help they could get free, missing a court deadline, giving money to someone who cannot deliver and trusting an online listing without checking the source.
- Foreclosure rules in the United States by state: This site has foreclosure process listings for ten US states. Each state runs its process through the courts or through a trustee. The rules vary in notice periods, sale venues and redemption rights.
- How foreclosure works, in plain terms: The two ways a foreclosure runs — through the courts or through a trustee sale — what the notices mean, what a sale date changes, and the free help that exists.
- How to read a foreclosure listing on this site: Every listing on this site shows the source each fact came from, the date it was checked, and a set of standard attributes that describe the resource type, sale details or counseling services.
Questions
Does ForeclosureListings list foreclosed homes for sale?
No. Live homes-for-sale feeds are commercial products that change daily; this site lists durable resources instead: where county sales are held, where notices are posted, HUD-approved counselors, legal aid and each state's official process page.
Is ForeclosureListings legal advice?
No. ForeclosureListings is a directory. It is not a law firm, nothing on it is legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. A listing is not a recommendation.
How do I spot a foreclosure rescue scam?
Be careful of anyone who charges an upfront fee to save your home, guarantees a result, tells you not to contact your lender or a lawyer, or asks you to sign over your deed. Free help is available from HUD-approved housing counselors — the HUD counseling hotline is 800-569-4287.
How do I report a mistake?
Write to hello@foreclosurelistings.fyi with the listing name, the place and what is wrong. An editor checks it against the source and corrects the listing.
Not legal advice. ForeclosureListings is a directory, not a law firm, and it does not list homes for sale. Nothing on this site is legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. A listing is not a recommendation. Facts come from the source named on each listing, with the date they were checked; sale venues, schedules and rules change, so confirm everything with the office or agency named before you act or pay. Beware of foreclosure rescue scams: never pay an upfront fee for help saving your home, and never sign your deed over to a stranger. Free help is available from HUD-approved housing counselors.
