MCP Server

Connect LinkJolt to Claude, ChatGPT, and other AI assistants. Manage your affiliate program with natural language.

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets AI assistants like Claude interact with external tools. The LinkJolt MCP server gives your AI assistant direct access to your affiliate program data, so you can ask things like "Show me my top affiliates this month" or "Create a conversion for order #123".

Hosted server (no install)

The fastest way in: point your MCP client at LinkJolt's hosted endpoint. Connector apps like claude.ai sign in with OAuth; developer tools can pass an API key header instead. Nothing to install, always up to date.

Connect your AI assistant

These two apps sign in with OAuth on a LinkJolt page, so there is no API key to create, copy or store.

Add LinkJolt to Claude

LinkJolt is listed in Claude's connector directory. Add it there, then approve access on the LinkJolt page that opens. It shows up in Claude Desktop too, since connectors follow your Claude account.

Or add it as a custom connector

Same connector, same sign-in. Open the prefilled custom connector form, or follow these steps.

1

Open Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector

In claude.ai or Claude Desktop.

2

Enter the name and server URL

Name: LinkJolt. URL: https://www.linkjolt.io/api/mcp. Keep the authentication settings Claude detects; Claude's published identity is the recommended OAuth client, and LinkJolt supports Client ID Metadata Documents and automatic registration, so there is no client ID or secret to paste.

3

Approve access when Claude first needs your account

Planning questions work straight away. The first time Claude needs your account, it opens a LinkJolt page: sign in (or create an account), then click Approve. The page lists exactly what Claude can read and write, access is scoped to your active brand, and the connector never sends money.

Using Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or Codex instead? Those connect from the terminal, not this screen. See the developer tool setup.

Endpoint
https://www.linkjolt.io/api/mcp

Streamable HTTP transport, speaking MCP revisions 2024-11-05 through 2025-06-18 (initialize handshake) and the stateless 2026-07-28 revision (per-request metadata and server/discover). OAuth-capable clients discover the sign-in flow automatically. Clients that support custom headers can instead send your API key in an Authorization: Bearer lj_pk_your_key header (X-Api-Key also works). Create keys in the dashboard under API Keys.

Add it to your client

Claude Code:

claude mcp add --transport http linkjolt \
  https://www.linkjolt.io/api/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer lj_pk_your_key"

Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and other clients with remote server support:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "linkjolt": {
      "url": "https://www.linkjolt.io/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer lj_pk_your_key"
      }
    }
  }
}

Which method to use: claude.ai, Claude Desktop, and ChatGPT connect with OAuth (one-click connector above, no key handling; ChatGPT cannot send an API key at all). Claude Code and Codex can sign in with OAuth too (run /mcp in Claude Code, or codex mcp login linkjolt), or send the API key header like Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and the Claude API MCP connector. Clients that only speak stdio can use the npm package below. OAuth access follows your plan the same way keys do: reading, setting up and running the program on Professional and above, the three writes on sales on Ultimate and Scale.

Local install (npm package)

Only for clients that can run a local command but cannot reach a remote server. The package is a small relay: it passes every request to the hosted endpoint with your API key, so it has exactly the same tools and prompts. Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Claude and ChatGPT all connect to the hosted endpoint directly and sign in through the browser, with no key to paste, so prefer that wherever you can.

Install the package
npm install -g @linkjolt/mcp-server
Configure your AI client

Add to your Claude Desktop config:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "linkjolt": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@linkjolt/mcp-server"],
      "env": {
        "LINKJOLT_API_KEY": "lj_pk_your_key"
      }
    }
  }
}

draft_affiliate_update

Setup and running the program from the chat, plus three deliberate writes on sales

The two planning tools answer before anyone signs in. Every other tool works on the signed-in account, and Claude asks the person to connect their LinkJolt account (or create one) the first time it calls one. On Pro and above the connector can set a program up: name the business, create a campaign, give the tracking steps, and email invitations (invite_affiliate sends a real email, so the assistant confirms the address first). Once it runs, the connector changes a campaign's terms (update_campaign) and approves or rejects affiliates waiting for review (update_affiliate_status), each confirmed with you first. Connecting Stripe or another payment platform stays in the browser. The planning and setup tools are on the hosted connector at https://www.linkjolt.io/api/mcp; the npm package carries the rest.

Three writes touch sales (create_conversion, update_conversion, create_coupon), all Ultimate or Scale only. Bonus award approval is deliberately not exposed as a tool: approving a team bonus award moves money, and an AI assistant should not approve payouts autonomously. Approve awards from the dashboard, or with a deliberate REST API call. Team, coupon, and payout tools respect your API key\'s plan and permissions, so a Pro key or a non-Scale plan gets the same errors the REST API returns.
