ScreenVerb MCP server

Let AI assistants search, read and organize the screenshots in your ScreenVerb cloud library. The server uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), so it works with Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Gemini CLI and other MCP clients.

Before you start

  • A ScreenVerb account with a Pro, Universal Pro or Max plan. See pricing.
  • Screenshots saved to your cloud library from the Mac or iOS app. The MCP server only reads your cloud library, not files on your device.
  • An MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth.

Server URL:

https://mcp.screenverb.com/mcp

Connect your assistant

If ScreenVerb is listed in your assistant's connector or app directory, connect it from there. Otherwise, add it as a custom server using the steps below.

Claude

  1. Open Customize → Connectors and search for ScreenVerb, or choose Add custom connector.
  2. For a custom connector, paste the server URL.
  3. Choose Connect, sign in to ScreenVerb and approve access.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings → Apps and search for ScreenVerb. To add it manually, turn on developer mode under Advanced and create an app with the server URL and OAuth authentication.
  2. Choose Connect, sign in to ScreenVerb and approve access.

Some ChatGPT plans only allow read tools in custom apps. Renaming and removing screenshots may need a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http screenverb https://mcp.screenverb.com/mcp

Then run /mcp in Claude Code and choose ScreenVerb to sign in.

Gemini CLI

gemini mcp add --transport http screenverb https://mcp.screenverb.com/mcp

Then run /mcp auth screenverb to sign in.

Other MCP clients

Add a remote server using Streamable HTTP and the server URL. Clients that use a JSON config usually look like this:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "screenverb": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.screenverb.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

The server supports OAuth discovery and dynamic client registration, so you don't need an API key.

Sign-in and permissions

When you connect, ScreenVerb asks you to sign in with Google or your email and password, then shows which access the assistant gets:

  • Read access lets the assistant list, search and view your screenshots, including recognized text and captions.
  • Update access lets the assistant rename screenshots and remove them from your library.

You can turn off either permission before approving. The assistant only sees the tools for the access you granted.

Available tools

ToolAccessWhat it does
list_screenshotsReadLists screenshots in your cloud library, newest first by default. Supports paging and sorting by date, size or name.
search_screenshotsReadFinds screenshots by filename, text recognized in the image, caption, tag or label, optionally limited to the last day, 7 days or 30 days.
get_screenshotReadShows one screenshot to your assistant as an image, with its details and a private image link that expires within 2 hours.
rename_screenshotUpdateChanges a screenshot's filename. Its share link stays the same.
delete_screenshotUpdateRemoves a screenshot from your cloud library. Assistants are told to ask you before using it.

Example prompts

  • Find the screenshot of the Stripe invoice I took last week.
  • List my 10 most recent screenshots and summarize what each one shows.
  • Search my screenshots for the error message about the expired token.
  • Rename my latest screenshot to “Q3 roadmap draft”.

Manage or disconnect

See every connected assistant on the MCP page in your dashboard, and disconnect any of them at any time. Disconnecting revokes its access right away. You can also remove ScreenVerb from your assistant's connector settings.

Troubleshooting

“This account does not have access”

The signed-in account doesn't have a plan that includes MCP. Use "Use another account" on the sign-in page, or check your plan in the dashboard.

The assistant can't find a screenshot

Make sure the screenshot was saved to your cloud library. If your plan includes screenshot analysis, recognized text and captions can take a moment to appear after upload.

Rename or remove is missing

Reconnect and leave update access turned on, or check whether your assistant's plan allows write tools.
