Put Safe Rate inside your AI assistant

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is a standard way for an AI assistant to use an outside tool. Think of it as a plug: instead of the assistant guessing from whatever it memorised during training, it calls a live source and gets a real answer back.

Safe Rate publishes one of those tools. Add it once and your assistant can price a mortgage, look up a lender's federal filing record, or check flood risk — using the same data behind this website.

  1. 1 You

Ask a question in plain language, in the assistant you already use.

  2. 2 Your assistant

Claude or ChatGPT decides a Safe Rate tool can answer it, and calls that tool.

  3. 3 Safe Rate

We price the scenario or look up the lender and hand back structured data with its sources and dates.

Why add this to your assistant?

Why not just ask the AI directly?

Ask an assistant for today's mortgage rate and it will guess from training data that is months or years stale, or refuse. These tools return a rate priced today from live investor sheets, stamped with the date it came from.

Why not just use the website?

Use the website — it is the same data. This is for when the question is already part of a conversation: comparing two cities, sanity-checking a quote a lender emailed you, or working out whether a payment fits your budget.

What does it cost me?

Nothing, and no account. Rate estimates take no name, email, or phone number, so there is no lead to sell and no follow-up call.

What your assistant can do

Seventeen tools, each backed by the same data that powers this website.

Price a scenario

Live rate estimates for any US location, with the full monthly cost — principal, interest, property taxes and homeowners insurance — not just principal and interest. Returns an estimate ID you can check again later.

get_quote_estimate

Track rate movement

Re-price a saved estimate and see how far rates have moved since you created it, in basis points and plain language.

track_quote_estimate

Research any lender

Look up a US mortgage lender by name or NMLS ID: origination volume, pull-through, product mix and footprint, straight from federal HMDA filings — scored on the same 5 Ps as our lender pages.

research_lender

Assess local risk

FEMA National Risk Index scores, flood-zone coverage and whether flood insurance is likely to be required for a mortgage, plus wildfire, earthquake and local insurance-market conditions.

assess_property_context

Understand a market

Median home value with its national percentile, rents, recent appreciation, and how much borrowing actually happens in the area.

get_market_context

See who lends locally

The lenders we publish rankings for in a metro area, filterable by loan type and institution type. Placement cannot be bought.

find_lenders_in_market

Search our pages

Find published Safe Rate pages by place or lender name. It matches places and lenders rather than prose, so “Austin” finds pages and “Austin mortgage rates” does not.

search

Read a page

Return one published page as plain text, carrying its own as-of date, canonical URL and citation notice — so an assistant quotes and cites the real page instead of paraphrasing it.

fetch

Read the yield curve

The fitted zero-coupon curve for any trading day, plus the par, money-market, TIPS and breakeven-inflation curves on request. Omit the date and you get the most recent fitted day, which is what you want on a weekend.

get_treasury_curve

Track yields over time

One curve across a date range, one row per trading day. Coverage starts 2 September 2008, which is where the underlying price series begins.

get_treasury_rate_history

Look up a security

One Treasury security by CUSIP: terms, auction results, price history, and analytics including duration, convexity, DV01 and key-rate durations, plus the amount outstanding.

get_treasury_security

Find the current issue

Which security is on-the-run for each tenor — how you get from “the current 10-year” to an actual CUSIP — plus the full outstanding universe on any date.

list_treasury_securities

Convert price and yield

Give a price and get the yield, or a yield and get the price, for a bill, note or bond. Supply exactly one side; a CUSIP looks the terms up for you.

price_treasury_security

Value a savings bond

What a Series I or EE bond is worth, and what you would actually receive: under five years old it forfeits three months of interest, and under twelve months it cannot be cashed at all.

value_savings_bond

Check savings bond rates

Current and historical Series I and EE rates. An I bond’s headline rate only lasts six months — the fixed component is the part worth comparing between vintages.

get_savings_bond_rates

Compare index returns

Our Treasury total-return indices by maturity bucket, plus bills, TIPS, floating-rate and aggregate. These are total returns, not yields: a rising level usually means yields fell.

get_treasury_index

Size the federal debt

The monthly Treasury statement: debt held by the public, total public debt outstanding, and the composition behind them. The two headline figures differ by trillions.

get_treasury_debt

Ask it like a person

Your assistant picks the right tool and cites what it used. These are real responses from the live server.

How we handle your data

Anonymous by design

Rate estimates never require a name, email, or phone number. The tools have no field to collect them, so there is nothing to leak and nothing to sell.

Every lender carries its NMLS ID

Named lenders are identified by NMLS ID wherever we hold one, with a link to NMLS Consumer Access so you can verify a license independently. We never invent an ID.

Scored the same way as the website

Lender numbers come back on the same 5 Ps — Pricing, Pull-through, Place, Product and Promptness — that produce the Safe Rate Score on our lender pages. Your assistant sees what you would see, not a separate scoring system invented for chat.

Data, not verdicts

Lender metrics come from public federal filings and are presented as sourced data points, not ratings or recommendations. Rankings state their basis, and placement cannot be purchased.

Affiliation is always disclosed

Safe Rate Mortgage (NMLS #1590949) is our affiliate. Any response naming it carries that disclosure, every time.

Rates shown are for informational purposes only and are subject to change without notice. Not a commitment to lend. They are not a Loan Estimate as defined by federal law, and nothing returned is financial advice. Every rate response carries the date of the rate data it was priced from.
