About Redstone

Portfolio analytics for data-driven investors.

Redstone shows the return and risk numbers behind about 1,100 US stocks, 480 ETFs and the portfolios you build, side by side: metrics like Sharpe, max drawdown, volatility and asset correlations, the same ones quantitative investors use. Every ticker page, comparison and model portfolio is free to view, without an account.

Data and methodology

  • Prices, dividends and splits come from Massive (formerly Polygon.io), updated every trading day after the US market closes.
  • Returns include reinvested dividends. Risk metrics cover the past year of daily closes; the Sharpe ratio uses a 4.5% risk-free rate, and beta and alpha are measured against SPY.
  • Portfolios are rebalanced back to their weights at the start of every quarter.

The Learn guides explain each metric in more depth.

Use Redstone in an AI assistant

AI assistants can read Redstone's numbers through a free, read-only connector (an MCP server). Ask about a fund or a portfolio in a chat, and the answer comes with Redstone's figures, a chart and a link to the full page. It needs no account or API key.

  • Server URL: https://redstonemarkets.com/api/mcp
  • In Claude: open Customize → Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste the URL. Then turn it on in a chat under + → Connectors.
  • Other assistants: add the same URL as a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP), with no sign-in.

It has four tools:

  • Stock or ETF performance and risk: one ticker's returns, max drawdown, Sharpe ratio and beta, with a 1-year and 5-year chart.
  • Compare: two to five tickers side by side, and how closely they move together.
  • Backtest: a portfolio you describe, such as 60% VTI and 40% BND, against SPY.
  • Screen: stocks or ETFs ranked by a return or risk metric, within a sector or ETF category.

Try “Compare VOO and QQQ over the last 5 years” or “Backtest 60% VTI and 40% BND.” The figures are the ones on this site, calculated as described above.
