Claude on the web, desktop or mobile: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Paste this URL, choose "Sign in now" and "Register automatically", then approve access on podcaststotext.com. No API key.

A second endpoint with only search and fetch, because that is all ChatGPT research mode calls. fetch returns transcripts in full. Add it as a connector and sign in when ChatGPT asks; no API key.

Setup

Questions about the MCP server

What is MCP, and why connect a transcription service to it?−

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant call external tools. Connecting this server means your assistant can fetch a podcast transcript and keep working with it in the same conversation, instead of you transcribing it somewhere else and pasting the result in.

Which MCP clients work with this server?+

The Claude app (web, desktop and mobile) and ChatGPT connect as custom connectors: paste the URL, sign in on podcaststotext.com, and there is no API key. Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Codex and Gemini CLI connect with an API key in an Authorization header, and the picker at the top of the page has the config for each. Clients limited to local stdio servers can connect through the npx mcp-remote bridge.

Will an agent burn through my credits without asking?+

It cannot spend past the minutes you have: the balance is a ceiling, not a bill. get_usage reports it, the server tells the model to check before long episodes, and a transcription that fails is never charged.

Which plan do I need?+

The API and the MCP server are on Creator, Pro, Studio and Podmaxxing. Transcription spends minutes from your allowance; show notes, chapters and translation also use the plan's AI credits.
