PatentRef

official

US patent claim trees, patent briefs and PatentsView-format search for grants since 1976. Free key.

What can you do with PatentRef MCP?

  • PatentsView-compatible queries — Query US patents granted since 1976 using the same q, f, s and o parameters and response shape as PatentsView.
  • Drop-in base URL swap — Point existing PatentsView code at https://patentref.io/api/v1/ to keep the same endpoints and parameters.
  • API key authentication — Send your key in the X-Api-Key header on every request; a free key allows 1,000 requests a month and 45 a minute.
  • Single patent lookup — Fetch a specific patent by ID, for example requesting patent 10905426 from the patent endpoint.

The same endpoints, the same q, f, s and o parameters and the same response shape. The base URL is https://patentref.io/api/v1/, and every request sends your key in X-Api-Key.

R (the patentsview package)

library(patentsview)
Sys.setenv(PATENTSVIEW_API_KEY = "YOUR_KEY")
assignInNamespace("get_base", function(endpoint) sprintf("https://patentref.io/api/v1/%s/", endpoint), ns = "patentsview")

Python

BASE = "https://patentref.io/api/v1/"
print(requests.get(BASE + "patent/", params={"q": '{"patent_id":"10905426"}'}, headers={"X-Api-Key": "YOUR_KEY"}).json())
