What is Agent Outbox?

Agent Outbox is a hosted MCP server and bot that lets AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Cursor and Claude Code send messages to your Telegram chats, groups and channels. You add one connector URL to your assistant and log in with a code from the bot: no bot token, no API key and nothing to host. Agent Outbox is an independent service and is not affiliated with Telegram.

Set up in a minute

  1. Start the bot. Open @agentoutbox_bot in Telegram and press Start. Your private chat with the bot becomes your first destination.
  2. Add the connector. In Claude, open Agent Outbox in Claude’s Connectors Directory and press Connect. In any other AI assistant, add a custom connector (remote MCP server) with the URL https://outbox.roxinbox.io/mcp
  3. Log in with a code. A login page opens. Send /connect to the bot and enter the 6-digit code it replies with.
  4. Ask for a message. Say “send this to Telegram”, or name a destination: “send this to family”.

Connect your assistant

Every assistant uses the same URL. Menu names change often, so if you can’t find the place, check the app’s current help pages for “custom connector” or “MCP server”.

Claude

Open Agent Outbox in Claude’s Connectors Directory, press Connect, then enter the 6-digit code from /connect in @agentoutbox_bot. Without the directory: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the URL, then turn the connector on in a chat.

Claude Code

Run this in your terminal, then /mcp in Claude Code to log in:

claude mcp add --transport http agent-outbox https://outbox.roxinbox.io/mcp

ChatGPT

Add a custom MCP connector in ChatGPT’s settings. Availability depends on your plan.

Grok

Add a custom MCP connector or server in Grok’s settings.

Cursor

Add a new MCP server in Cursor’s settings and paste the URL.

Choose where messages go

A destination is a chat the bot can post to, with a short name you use when asking. Your private chat with the bot is called me and is the default.

  • Group: add the bot to the group. If it’s already there, send /link in the group.
  • Topic: in a group with topics, send /link inside a topic to post to that topic only. The whole group posts to General.
  • Channel: add the bot as an admin with the “Post messages” right, then forward any post from the channel to the bot.
  • Names and default: send /destinations to rename, remove, or pick the default.

You can only add chats where you can post yourself. The bot checks this again before every message.

What to ask

Talk to your assistant normally and mention Telegram. For example:

  • “Sum up what we just planned and send it to me on Telegram.”
  • “Run the tests and post the results to the dev channel.”
  • “Make a plan for Saturday and send it to family.”
  • “Post today’s release notes to the team chat.”
  • “Summarize this article and send it to Telegram.”
  • “Which Telegram destinations do I have?”
  • “How many Telegram messages do I have left today?”

Bold, italics, headings, lists, links and code come through as Telegram formatting. A long text is split into several Telegram messages (up to 10) and counts once toward your plan.

Questions and answers

What is Agent Outbox?

A hosted MCP connector plus a bot. Add one URL (https://outbox.roxinbox.io/mcp) to an AI assistant, and the assistant can send messages to your Telegram: your private chat, your groups and your channels. Agent Outbox is an independent service, not affiliated with Telegram.

Which assistants work?

Any app or agent that supports custom remote MCP connectors with OAuth, for example Claude (web, desktop, mobile and Claude Code), ChatGPT, Grok (including Grok in a Tesla), Cursor and MCP-capable agent frameworks. Custom connectors may depend on the app’s plan.

In Claude, the easiest way is Agent Outbox in Claude’s Connectors Directory: press Connect and log in with a code from the bot.

Do I need a bot token, an API key or a server?

No. You never create a bot, paste a token or host anything. Login uses OAuth with a one-time code from the bot.

Does it use my Telegram account?

No. Messages are sent by our bot, never by your account. We never ask for your phone number or a login session, and we don’t read your chats.

How does the assistant know where to send?

Each destination has a name you can change in /destinations, where you also choose your default. Say “send it to family” or “post to news”. Matching ignores case, a leading “the” and a trailing “group”, “channel” or “chat”. With no name, the message goes to your default. With an unknown name, the assistant gets the list of valid names; it never guesses.

Does formatting work, and what about long messages?

Markdown becomes Telegram formatting: bold, italics, code, code blocks, links, headings and bullet lists. If Telegram rejects the formatting, the message is sent as plain text. Text longer than about 3,500 characters is split at paragraph breaks into up to 10 messages and counts once toward your plan.

Can it send photos or files, or read my messages?

Not yet. It sends text only, and it can’t read chats or receive replies.

Do you store my messages?

No. Message text is held in memory only while it is formatted and sent. We store your Telegram user ID and name, your destinations, a message count for your current quota window, connection grants for your assistants and payment records. Send /deleteme to the bot to delete your data. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

How much does it cost?

Free: 50 messages a day, resetting at 00:00 UTC. Pro: 10,000 messages per 30 days with no daily cap, for 250 Telegram Stars a month (about $5), renewing every 30 days. Send /subscribe to the bot. Cancel anytime in Telegram under Settings → My Stars.

The login page doesn’t accept my code

A code works once and expires after 10 minutes, and a new /connect replaces the previous one. Send /connect again and use the newest code. After 5 wrong attempts, start connecting again from your assistant.

My assistant answers in the chat instead of sending

Check that the connector is turned on for this conversation, and say “Telegram” in your request: “send this to Telegram”.

The bot doesn’t post in my channel

Make the bot an admin of the channel with the “Post messages” right, then forward a post from the channel to the bot.

The bot left my group right after I added it

Only people who started the bot can add it to groups. Press Start in @agentoutbox_bot, then add it again.

How do I disconnect an assistant?

Send /disconnect to unlink every connected assistant, and remove the connector in the assistant’s settings. To connect again, add the URL and use a new code. The bot also messages you whenever a new assistant connects.

Is Agent Outbox made by Telegram?

No. Agent Outbox is an independent service built on Telegram’s public Bot API. Not affiliated with Telegram.
