Source time matters
Fast perps reads, with a source-age limit.
Response speed and market-data age are different. A cached answer can arrive quickly while describing an older market. Research snapshots, live trade feeds and settlement history carry different clocks.
For supported Hyperliquid books, the trading path uses a three-second default maximum source age, a two-second adapter deadline and no fallback to an hourly price. The assistant and network add their own time. Try a fresh-depth workflow.
Read the observation time
Check the timestamp attached to the price, funding rate, book or position. A response timestamp alone does not establish when the venue observed it.
Check the covered universe
Totals name included, excluded and incomplete venues. An archive-only venue is outside a current total. A missing figure remains unavailable.
Match the calculation to the data
Funding states, contract payoff and observation windows need to agree. Depth bands describe resting liquidity at a read; they cannot guarantee an order’s fill.

For advanced perps traders
Start with a trading question.
Copy a research prompt below. Compare the assumptions and inspect the underlying market page before acting.
Price a position from entry to exit
Compare the dollar cost of $1,000, $10,000 and $100,000 BTC perpetual positions on Hyperliquid and Lighter. Show entry fees and visible price impact, 24-hour funding scenarios and a same-quantity exit. Refuse stale books and keep missing costs unavailable.
Compare funding across venues
Show the venues quoting this market, each funding interval and whether its rate is settled or indicative. Identify missing coverage and keep mark-price differences separate from executable prices.
Investigate a position build
Show the markets passing the position-build screen. Explain the price move, comparable open-interest change, funding and the evidence behind any directional interpretation.
Follow Hyperliquid positioning
What changed in large accounts’ positions over the last four hours? Separate openings, additions, reductions, closures and flips, with the account-book coverage.
Read stock perps while stocks are closed
Which stock-perp moves agree across venues this weekend? Show liquidity, funding, source times and the historical grading of comparable weekend calls.

Common questions
Perps MCP: coverage, freshness and access.
What is the OptimistFi perps MCP connector?
OptimistFi connects an AI assistant to perpetual futures research: funding, open interest, prices, order-book depth, liquidations and Hyperliquid account positioning. It covers crypto, stock, index, commodity and FX perps. Each response identifies its sources, timestamps and coverage.
How do I connect OptimistFi to Claude?
Open OptimistFi in Claude’s connectors directory and connect it, or add https://mcp.optimistfi.com/mcp as a custom remote MCP connector. The public research tools require no API key or sign-up.
How fresh is the perps data?
Fresh trading reads on supported Hyperliquid venues reject books older than three seconds by default. Cross-venue research comparisons can use stored hourly readings; account, trade and settlement feeds carry separate timestamps. Historical funding, completed liquidation windows and live order books are different observations. Check the response’s source time and coverage before using a number for a trading decision.
Does a funding-rate spread show an executable arbitrage?
No. A displayed funding spread compares rate observations. It does not establish executable bid and ask prices, available size, entry and exit costs, future funding or the margin needed on each venue. A mark price is not an executable quote.
Does the connector execute trades or need my private key?
The public MCP tools are read-only. They do not place orders, sign transactions or require a private key. Private exchange accounts and notification delivery require separate authenticated services.
Does open interest reveal whether traders are long or short?
Open interest measures outstanding positions, not directional money flow. The response explains each venue’s convention. Directional account cohorts and pool long/short exposure are separate datasets; historical comparisons need the same instrument cohort at both ends.
Also included
US stock research when you need the underlying company.
The same connector includes investment theses, SEC filings, company comparisons, insider trades and capital returns. Use those tools to investigate a stock behind a perp, or to follow a company separately. Browse all tools.
Scope and methodology
OptimistFi supplies research and evidence. The public connector executes no trades. Available coverage and refresh cadence depend on the source. See the methodology, Perps Data API, disclosures and errors and limits.
