Connect in two minutes

Server address: https://opnplatform.com/api/mcp · sign-in: OAuth (your OPN account) · transport: Streamable HTTP.

Claude (web, desktop, mobile): Settings → Connectors → search PackIndex in the directory, or Add custom connector and paste the server address. Select Connect, sign in to OPN and approve the permissions. Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http packindex https://opnplatform.com/api/mcp.

ChatGPT: open Apps, search PackIndex and connect, then sign in to OPN. Before the listing is live, workspaces with developer mode can add the server address as a custom connector.

Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365 work accounts): in Copilot Studio create an agent → Tools → Add a tool → Model Context Protocol → server address, authentication OAuth 2.0 → Dynamic discovery. Publish to the Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot channel; the agent then appears under Agents in Copilot chat. Consumer Copilot (personal Microsoft accounts) does not support custom connectors.

Other MCP clients (Cursor, VS Code, agents): add the server address; clients that support MCP OAuth open the OPN sign-in automatically. Scripts can send an opn_ API key as a Bearer token instead.

Sign-in and permissions

The first time a tool needs your account, the assistant opens an OPN sign-in page. You choose which permissions it gets; Read PackIndex data is always included and the others can be unticked. Every connection is per user, so each person's own plan, runs and credits apply.

Plans, costs and limits

Same rules as the web app. A connected assistant can never do more than you could in the portal, and it spends exactly what the same action costs there. Your balance is shown in tool results.

• Without an account or on the free plan, index values are 12-week delayed reference values plus a daily live rotation. Live values need Essential or above.
• Design Studio tools (draft, cost, compare) use one Suite run each; a compare run that finds nothing it can price is refunded.
• PACKIQ agents use PACKIQ credits. The Trade Exchange needs a Business or Corporate Exchange plan to send RFQs, with a monthly limit.
• One RFQ or quote request reaches at most 3 suppliers; your identity is shared only after a supplier responds.
• Design Studio costs are material benchmarks from PackIndex indices. They exclude print, finishing, tooling and freight, and are not supplier quotes.
• Values are indicative reference benchmarks, not procurement or financial advice. Cite them as "PackIndex" with their as-of date.

Which AI assistants can use PackIndex?

Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in: Claude (web, desktop, mobile and Claude Code), ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot Studio agents published to Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams, Cursor, VS Code and others. The server address is https://opnplatform.com/api/mcp.

Do I need an OPN account?

No for price data: public tools work without sign-in and show 12-week delayed reference values plus a daily live rotation. Yes for live values, Design Studio, PACKIQ agents and the Trade Exchange — you sign in with your OPN account and your own plan applies.

Does connecting an assistant cost extra?

No. Tools spend exactly what the same action costs in the web app: Suite runs for Design Studio, PACKIQ credits for agents, and your Exchange plan's RFQ allowance. Nothing is charged for connecting or for read-only tools.

Can the assistant contact suppliers on my behalf?

Only when you ask it to and approved the Trade Exchange permission. post_rfq sends to at most 3 suppliers per request, follows your Exchange plan's limits, and never reveals your identity until a supplier responds. Assistants are instructed to confirm with you before sending.

What data does PackIndex receive from my assistant?

Only the inputs the assistant passes to a PackIndex tool (for example an index code, a brief or an RFQ quantity). PackIndex never receives your chat history, memories or files. Details are in the privacy policy.

How do I disconnect?

Remove the connector in your assistant, or open the OPN portal → Settings → MCP Access and revoke the app. Revoking ends its access immediately.
