InvoiceParser Pro

Invoice to Excel with the math checked: reads PDFs, scans and photos into fields and line items, checks lines, tax and total, returns Excel, CSV or JSON. Free trial.

Hosted MCP Server

npx add-mcp 'https://api.invoiceparserpro.com/mcp'

Installs into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and more

Documentation

Ask your assistant to turn an invoice into a spreadsheet, check whether its math adds up, or pull out every field and line item. InvoiceParser Pro reads the document the same way it does on the website, and the answer comes back in the chat.

The tools

Four tools, one invoice at a time

Invoice to Excel

invoice_to_excel

Reads the invoice and returns the header fields, every line item, and download links to an Excel (.xlsx) and a CSV file.

Check the math

check_invoice

Checks each line (quantity times unit price), the lines against the subtotal, the tax against its printed rate, and the total. Returns a one-line verdict and every problem it found, with the invoice’s own numbers.

Extract the data

extract_invoice_data

Returns the whole read as JSON: vendor and customer, numbers and dates, PO number, currency, totals, tax lines, every line item, and confidence for the document and for each field.

Fetch a slow result

get_result

A document that is still being read when a call returns comes back with a job_id; get_result fetches it a little later.

Setup

Connect your assistant

Each tool takes one file: an https link the server can download (file_url), the file's bytes in base64 (file_base64), or, in ChatGPT, the attached file. PDFs and photos up to 10 MB.

Claude (claude.ai and the Claude desktop app)

  1. Open Connectors (under Customize; Settings in some versions) and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it InvoiceParser Pro, paste https://api.invoiceparserpro.com/mcp as the URL and choose Continue. For authentication keep “Use Claude’s published identity” (the default).
  3. Choose to sign in now, or when needed. Signing in opens InvoiceParser Pro: sign in, choose the workspace, and select Allow.
  4. In a chat, turn the connector on from the tools menu and ask, for example: “Turn this invoice into a spreadsheet: <link>”.

Files: Give Claude an https link to the file (a public or shared link from your file storage). Claude may not be able to pass a file attached to the chat on to a connector; a link always works.

Key: Sign in with your InvoiceParser Pro account (OAuth). Or, on the same screen under Request headers, choose Add header and send Authorization with the value Bearer ipp_mcp_… (your assistant key). Signed out, Claude uses the free trial lane, and when that is used up it shows a Connect button to sign in.

Claude Code

  1. Add the server from your terminal, with or without a key:
  2. Without a key, run /mcp in Claude Code and choose to sign in: your browser opens InvoiceParser Pro to sign in and Allow.
claude mcp add --transport http invoiceparser-pro https://api.invoiceparserpro.com/mcp

# with a key (documents go into your workspace):
claude mcp add --transport http invoiceparser-pro https://api.invoiceparserpro.com/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer ipp_mcp_..."

Files: Claude Code can read a file on your computer and send it as base64 (file_base64), or pass an https link (file_url).

Key: Sign in with /mcp, or send a key with the --header line above.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings, then Apps & Connectors, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode (a paid ChatGPT plan is needed for custom connectors).
  2. Create a connector with https://api.invoiceparserpro.com/mcp as its URL and OAuth as the authentication. ChatGPT finds the sign-in settings itself.
  3. Sign in to InvoiceParser Pro when ChatGPT asks, choose the workspace, and select Allow.
  4. In a chat, add the connector from the + menu, attach the invoice, and ask for the spreadsheet or the math check.

Files: Attach the file in the chat: the tools declare a file input (the Apps SDK’s file parameters), so ChatGPT can hand the tool a temporary download link. An https link to the file works too.

Key: Sign in with your InvoiceParser Pro account (OAuth). Without signing in, the free trial lane.

Cursor

  1. Add the server to.cursor/mcp.json (or your global MCP settings):
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "invoiceparser-pro": {
      "url": "https://api.invoiceparserpro.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ipp_mcp_..." }
    }
  }
}

Files: The agent can read a file in your project and send it as base64, or pass an https link.

Key: Yes: the headers line (leave it out for the free trial lane).

VS Code and other MCP clients

  1. Add a remote (HTTP) MCP server with the URL https://api.invoiceparserpro.com/mcp. The transport is Streamable HTTP.
{
  "servers": {
    "invoiceparser-pro": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.invoiceparserpro.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ipp_mcp_..." }
    }
  }
}

Files: file_url (an https link) or file_base64 (the file’s bytes).

Key: Any client that can send an HTTP header can use a key.

Without signing in

A free trial

  • Up to 3 documents a day per network address, inside a shared monthly budget. Hosted assistants (Claude.ai, ChatGPT) share their addresses among all their users, so the allowance may already be used up there; the answer says when it is back.
  • The file and its results are deleted 7 days after upload.
  • Every answer ends with a link that saves the results to a free account (25 invoices a month, no card).
  • Spreadsheet links work for 60 minutes, without signing in.

Signed in, or with a key

Your workspace, your plan

  • Sign in with your InvoiceParser Pro account and the documents you send go into the workspace you choose and count against that workspace's plan, exactly like an upload on the website: the Free plan's 25 invoices a month, a trial's invoices, or a paid plan's allowance.
  • Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code sign in with OAuth: you sign in to InvoiceParser Pro, choose the workspace and select Allow. Prices do not change.
  • Remove an assistant at any time under Account, then Sessions, then Connected apps; it loses access at once.
  • Clients that can set a header can use an AI assistant key instead (Authorization: Bearer ipp_mcp_…), which every paid plan creates on the API Access page. It works only with assistants; the REST API stays on Scale.

Privacy

Where your invoice goes

InvoiceParser Pro reads the document exactly as it does on the website, with the same providers. Without signing in or a key, the file and its results are deleted 7 days after upload unless you save them to an account; signed in or with a key, the document lives in your workspace like any upload. The free trial counts a connection's documents under a keyed hash of its IP address, not the address itself. See the privacy policy and security.

Your AI assistant's company sees what you give the assistant (the file or the link) and what the tools send back (fields, line items, the math check, the download links), under its own terms.

Links: the server downloads public https links only. Private, internal and plain-http addresses are refused, including through redirects.
