GameGene
Sourced game design precedents for people making games: where a mechanic came from, why designers chose it, and which games carried it on.

What you can ask
- “I’m designing a roguelike. What precedents are there for making losses feel fair, and what did the designers intend?”
- “Where did showing the enemy’s next move come from, and why did designers adopt it?”
- “What design precedents bring players back every day? Include sources.”
- “Where did Dark Souls’ mechanic of going back for the souls you dropped on death come from?”
- “From the games most read on GameGene, list classics I don’t know yet.”
Answers come with links to GameGene pages as sources. The AI is told to say plainly when GameGene has no record of something.
How to connect
All you need is a GameGene account (free). The connection URL is https://gamegene.app/api/mcp.
Claude
Go to Settings → Connectors → “Add custom connector”, enter https://gamegene.app/api/mcp as the URL and add it. Press “Connect”, sign in to GameGene on the page that opens, and press “Allow”.
ChatGPT
Turn on developer mode in Settings, then create a connector (app) with the same URL. As with Claude, sign in to GameGene and allow access.
Once you allow it, the AI app can read GameGene's records. Your own records, such as your known / want-to-know marks and notebooks, are returned only to the AI app you connected, and only your own.

Supporter
1000 calls a day (about 60 questions) and 30 a minute

How data is handled
- AI apps only read GameGene; they cannot change any records.
- For limits, troubleshooting and improving the Service, we log the tool name, arguments, account, connected AI app, time and similar details of each call, and delete them after 180 days. We do not log the content we return.
- Your questions and conversations with the AI app never reach GameGene; only the arguments of the tools the AI calls do.
